I am applying to peds programs and I am not sure how many to apply to...in order to insure that I have plenty of interviews to choose from. I got a 217 on Step I and haven't taken step II yet (scheduled for November).

So far the schools that I intend to apply to are as follows:

EVMS
MCV
UVA
ECU
DUKE (3rd choice)
UNC (1st choice)
Wake Forest (2nd choice)
Charlotte
Greenville, SC
MUSC
Ohio State
Emory
UGA
Vanderbilt

I want to keep my options open, but would prefer east coast schools. Any advice??
Thanks! :luck:

check out Childrens Memorial in chicago, its part of northwestern. It is a great program from what I have heard. It is in Lincoln Park-a great neighborhood like 5 minutes from downtown.

What are you looking for in a program? Big? Small? Community oriented/academic oriented? We need to know these factors to help you. Step I helpful, but what are you grades like?

My grades in the first two years were ok, mostly passes with a couple of high passes. No academic difficulties. I Honored or High Passed most of my clerkships and 4th year electives.

I am looking for a program that has 10-20 residents, would prefer it to be an academic setting or if a community setting I would like a free standing children's hospital. I would ideally also like to get away from the large urban setting.

Thanks for your help 🙂

17 programs total:

U Mich
CHOP

Boston Childrens
MGH

Patiently waiting....

I applied to 36 programs but I'm thinking that may have been way too many...I just got nervous right before I submitted and wanted to make sure I had some good choices in the end. Oh well, what can you do? 😳
