^^ How many did you apply to? How many did you get an interview at? How many were you accepted at (so far)?
8,6,3
You rock t-funk!
Applied to 14, submitted 10 secondaries, 2 rejections (1 pre-secondary), 1 interview (11/30).
My husband is the same only he has 1 rejection, 1 pre-interview hold, and 3 interviews.
Submitted 23 secondaries 😱, 5 interview invites (3 DO, 2 MD), 3 acceptances (3 DO)
...and 3 rejections, so far... I'm sure there are many more of those to come 😉
What are you thinking about which school you are going to pick? I'm pretty sure it is KCUMB for me due to many compounding factors even though I liked DCOM a lot.

I really liked KCUMB, too, but I'm actually at this point leaning more toward UNE or DMU. The reason for this is that I lack two prerequisite courses for KCUMB that would be difficult for me to fulfill. (I'm teaching 4-5 classes at a community college, and I'm continuing working full-time at my current job next semester.) Also, my SO is not crazy about living in KC -- we're more suburban/rural people. It is a great school, and I was really impressed. I know you'll be happy there, if that's the one you end up choosing. 🙂
Are you accepted to kcumb? why do you care about pre-requisite courses if you are accepted?
oh yea, never mind. But it is impressive that some people get accepted without completing the pre-requisites beforehand though 👍.She was accepted to KCUMB but even with an acceptance you still have to complete the pre-reqs before matriculation.

Total interview offers 14/19. Not too shabby. LOL. I started withdrawing pretty early though.
Please tell me you've taken biochem. Please.
DMU specifically told me they waitlisted me b/c I hadn't had biochem. Those lying bastards (maybe)

Well, I did take a biochem course (it was a mix of biochem and analytical chem), but it wasn't the "general" biochem, if that makes sense. I probably would still need to take biochem for KCUMB, and even if they did allow the one I took (I haven't checked to see if they would accept it), the class really wasn't comprehensive enough to where I'd feel comfortable going on to KCUMB without general biochem.
However, like some other people on here, I did list "biochem" as a future course I would be taking in the Spring to cover my bases for schools that required it. I thought if I was accepted to schools that required it, I would go ahead with it. If I go with DMU, I probably won't. I should probably check about that before December, though, in case they are expecting that I take it. 😳 I can let you know what they say, if you want.
Hey IUgrad! Did you go to IU Bloomington?
Hey IUgrad! Did you go to IU Bloomington?
I wouldn't admit if I were a Hoosier👎 Boiler UP. Big game today!
naw - It's just frustrating to be told to my face by the biochem professor who interviewed me and then from feedback from the adcom that I was waitlisted b/c I didn't have biochem. Oh, and they were concerned that b/c I didn't take biochem I would have a hard time with it. Never mind that I honored my organic chem, took doctoral neuroscience courses in my PhD program and taught an undergraduate course on speech science, for which I had to have complete knowledge - all extremely tough to do.
It's just irritating, that's all.
If you get the Biochem professor, just emphasize that you've taken a biochem course (doesn't matter which one!) and how much you ENJOYED it. You'll be in then if the rest of your interview goes well.
Yes, I went to IU Bloomington. I still live here, actually, so we got to fight the game traffic coming in earlier... All part of the fun of living in a college town! 🙂 Bloomington is a beautiful and fun place to live, and I'll miss it when we leave next year.
way too many, 0, 0. 2 pre-interview holds.
Dang! You did apply to a ton of schools. We have the same MCAT score actually just separated differently. Shoot! What is the actual word I'm looking for? Anyway, did LECOM-B tell you when you called that you were rejected because that would just be mean otherwise. Hang in there. You're still in the game and looks like you haven't been complete at some schools very long. 🙂
Edit: Distribution!! Different distribution! That was about to drive me crazy.
thanks for the encouragement! they weren't going to tell me, "your decision has been mailed." but after some protest, she told me. booo. i really liked them. fingers and toes crossed!! (for you too!)😉
applied 2, interviewed 2, accepted 2... must be a lucky number!
Yes, she's right. I still have the requirements for matriculation. Phil Byrne emphasized that you definitely must complete these courses with a "C" or better or your acceptance will be rescinded. The two classes that I'm lacking are genetics and biochemistry.
How would they know? do you send in your official transcript once you graduate?
How would they know? do you send in your official transcript once you graduate?
i think most schools require your transcripts once you're accepted...
I'm pretty sure they all do... No failing classes your last semester!
That is irritating! I would be mad, too. It sounds like you are really well prepared with the courses you took (cool-I honored organic too!). Luckily, I avoided the biochem prof. My professor interviewer was in microbiology I think, and he was a super nice guy from Indiana, so we had that in common to talk about.
It really is the luck of the draw on who you get, since it influences your admission so much. That must be why everyone calls it a crap shoot because that part is pretty random and unpredictable, and then whoever interviews you is then your only advocate with adcom. I'm lucky that most of the interviews I've attended so far were with nice, conversational, friendly people.
I'm bummed out that we probably won't be classmates next year, but I know that CCOM (or SIU) is lucky to have you! 🙂
