Hello, this is my first time here!!! 🙂 I never knew such a site existed! I'm taking my PCAT this June and just now finding all these great questions and answers!!! Anyway... I was wondering, how many times can we take the PCAT without looking too bad with the schools?

apprx 10 billions times. after that i think they really start to think there is something wrong with you 😀

seriously, it was my understanding that it doesn't matter how many times you take it

I'd imagine that taking it twice is OK. I'm just saying that because I took it twice, and was accepted to two schools. My composite scores were the same both times, but my individual section scores in chem and quantitative rose the second time.

Look at it from the eyes of the pharmacy school. They want you to have the best score right? Since you have a chance of doing better every time you take it, I wouldnt see why the pharmacy school would hold anything against you. However money might be an issue.. haha.. Im no rich man, but I want to get into pharmacy school bad enough that I will pay the 105 as many times as I can see fit.

I'm not sure if this is correct but I believe that they (PCAT) people or PharmCAS start to average your scores after you've taken the PCAT for the forth time. Not sure on this, it's just something I've heard. I'm sure you might want to look into this.

If you have taken the PCAT 4 Times you may want to start looking for a different profession.

so i guess i shouldn't take the PCAT just to get the feel of it?

BulsangHanNamja,
Do you like throwing money down the drain. If so let me know I will let you contribute to my scholarship fund and then you can feel good about doing something nice for someone else. It costs a hundred dollars to take the test and you are going to spend that kind of money just to get a feel? Go buy kaplan and take a practice test if you want to get a feel. Then study your buns off and get a good score the first time you take it.
Doing well on the pcat the first time you take it shows that you know you subjects and that you are well prepared for the pcat and school. Doing well the fourth time you take the test shows that you took the test three times to get an idea of what it was like and then studied a little bit to improve your score.

That's exactly what I'm doing. I took it in January prior to finishing my biology sequence or having any kind of calculus under my belt. I am planning on taking it again this October when I will be halfway through my calculus class and completely done with chemistry and biology. I'm planning on getting a better composite than the 80 I got the first time.
