How much do you usually spend on one interview? (Including flight, hotel, food and car service)

Depends how far you are flying, where and how long are you staying and if public transportation is available.

Probably anywhere from 500-750 would be average I'd say but of course depends on other factors.

Oh sorry, I haven't even applied yet, I am only a junior. I just didn't know that these were the average costs, I was thinking they were 200-300 but I guess it is what it is. Mind as well start saving up this summer for all of these unnecessary charges.

It's all relative on location. If your interview is within driving distance, then yeah its pretty cheap. If you have to fly across the country, then 500+ seems pretty average.

To cut costs, look into Megabus and Amtrak if the locations are close. Generally speaking, they can be cheaper than flights.

I have already spent almost $1900 on applications alone and I still have to pay extra ~$1000 for supplemental applications! This is before traveling for any interviews.

Partly in order to cut flying costs and partly because it just worked out this way, I'm going to a few back-to-back interviews which saves a returning flight (can be $100-$200 depending on where it is). Also find out if you know anyone in the cities you're interviewing in that you feel comfortable asking to put you up for a night. Check with your parents to see if you have some distant relatives in surrounding areas.

A flight can easily be 300-400 depending on where you're flying to/from and how early/late you book it. Of course, if an interview is in same city or state or relatively nearby you can drive and essentially pay nothing.

This is too broad of a question. It will cost me about five dollars in gas for a couple schools, and $500 plus for schools across the country.

Flying is safest mode of transportation per mile. Probably not, you can bring wipes if it really bothers you...

I would like to say that lessens my anxiety but it doesn't. But thanks. And I'll be bringing twice my normal amount of disinfecting wipes in that case.

I'm flying from Indy to Florida in 12 days. So far for flight, rental car, and hotel I'm looking at $400. I figure after everything is said and done with food I'll be around $450.

I flew to three of my interviews - Michigan cost about $500, Florida the same, and San Fran cost about $650. The two that I drove to ended up costing about $200 each. Food on the road isn't cheap, if you can plan ahead and bring food you might save a few bucks here and there, but there's no way around the expensive flights and hotel costs (unless you have friends in the city). It becomes increasingly difficult when you're in classes and trying to plan your flights around missing as few as possible - the less flexibility in your travel plans, the more expensive it'll be. It's just the beginning of the money train, though, wait till you're actually in school and see what you're charged for each semester.

You want to be a dentist but you're that much of a germaphobe? I understand you wear gloves but good luck with that one, have you done any shadowing at free clinics?

Flying to Midwest from Florida will be roughly 500 not including taxi or hotel. Hotwire has good hotel rates so I'll probably spend 50 on that.
