I have been accepted into multiple schools, the school I decided to attend will cost me about $40,000 more to go to. I decided on this school because of location, closer to family and liked the school more.

I know everyone says it is all about the money, and I agree if there was $150,000+ difference in my choices I would pick the cheaper school.

Do you guys think a 40K difference is that big of a deal?

These all seem like legitimate reasons to want to go to another school, but you'll have to gauge on whether you believe the extra $55K (after interest) is worth it. If you believe that location, family, and liking this school more will put you in a better position to succeed I would say it is money well spent.

40K will equal to about 60K after interest. Its not a huge amount of money but its still money. You have to make that sort of decision for yourself. If the difference is over 100K then I would say go with the cheaper soon. At 60K difference it seems marginal, go with the school you like best.

As the other posters have pointed out, with interest, that can turn into 60K.

However, if you think it's a perfect fit for you, then go for it. Having a support system nearby is worth it in my opinion.
