To go to Africa in January?

I have seven interviews set up - unfortunately none of those are my top three choices. I really, really want to do this program in January, but am I totally shooting myself in the foot if I leave for one third of the interview season?

Any thoughts?

Being that most programs only interview through the end of january I'd say don't do it unless you've heard from all your top choices and have interviews set up before then. Could be very risky if you go... what if one of your top choices doesn't send out the interview invite until really late, like after a cancellation, anad you miss is cuz your in Africa. That would really stink!
