I'm kind of confused by the question because why would you decline an invitation if you apply again the following year...

I would just write an email or call (depending on how they contacted you), thank them for inviting you for an interview but you respectfully decline.

Wait, why do you want to decline the interview?

i had 4 interviews already, and hopefully I will be accepted at least 1 of 4
Just in case, I will need re-apply next year

I don't have the money to go anymore...
🙁😳🙄

Just shoot an email off to whoever is in charge of scheduling interviews and just say that due to some personal financial issues, you are unable to attend an interview at this time...make sure you say thank you. That's all you need...no flowers or chocolate or anything else 👍

Yeah, keep it short.

just say no thanks. its not like they're gonna ground you.

The same way you decline a job offer.
Call them and let them know that you will not be considering a spot at that school anymore. No ones feelings are going to get hurt. They have thousands more that will be more than will to fill your spot. 😀

just tell them you're broke and penniless now, they'll likely to want you anymore.

I declined an interview last month. I just emailed the person who sent me the interview invite and told them I appreciated the opportunity to interview but I was respectfully declining the invitation.

That's exactly, almost word for word, what I say when I decline invitations! The schools seem to appreciate you getting back to them in such a respectful manner.

Basically, exactly what everyone said here.

However, there was this one job interview I was invited to and I decided not to go on the last minute because I found some information about the company I didn't like. Basically, their website offered like $15/hour, but I found out thru some forums that this is a commissioned job and you gotta find clients and go to their homes to sell the products and also you have to purchase your own display model for the product.

So when I canceled the interview, they told me I was being rude and extremely unprofessional, lol.

i would ask for a later interview and in the mean time work extra hours to pay for it :d

Is it bad to reschedule my interview twice and then just to have it cancelled? They must really hate me now.
