I am going through all of the EK questions and looking over my mistakes. when i look at the explanation i understand why i got it wrong, but what do you think is the best way to capture this information. flash cards? set of notes? i was thinking of making a list of high yield mcat facts that are noted in the answer section of the ek bio 1001, do you all think this would be a good idea? i just want to make sure that not only am i practicing with passages but i am being thorough in understanding my mistakes..pls advise!

After content review I created a word file in which I put the answer to every question that I got wrong on practice exams. This served a number of purposes: 1) It made me write down the correct answer; 2) It made me go through the material until I understood why I got the question wrong; and 3) By reading that sheet many times it helped me ensure that I didn't get those concepts wrong again.

I don't think it really matters how you choose to "capture" the information as long as it ensures that you understand why the answer to each question is correct.

Find something that works for you and then keep working until you understand everything. Good luck!

whenever i get something wrong in a 1001, and it's a 'high yield MCAT' or otherwise deemed important, i write it on a flashcard.

i keep sets of flashcards for stuff like this--the high yield tidbits--in addition to my other notes i have from my other plan. so far things are working out. i take the cards w/ me whenever i go out now. i bought these packs that are attached to a couple of rings, so no spillage.

i like this approach, but others are not so keen on flashcards... try it. if you like it, cool 😀

either way... good luck w/ this beast.

remember, the MCAT never sleeps :scared:

thanks everyone! i think i am going to start putting it on an excel chart and marking down the type of question i got wrong, and the concept behind it. i am still contemplating the flash card thing and will probably eventually make them when i get tired of actually reading, reviewing and taking notes! =)

Sounds like you have a good plan. I would use Excel for marking the types of questions and for overall test-analysis (for the BS/PS you could put columns: passage-based, discrete... and reason for mistake: didn't use passage, didn't know content, didn't apply info from passage. And the same for VR).

For other important content-related things you miss, like high-yield MCAT facts in 1001, I would write them either in a word doc / on paper / or on flashcards. That might be more user-friendly than Excel, but again, whatever works for you!

good luck!

u are probably right. what i was going to do is store them on excel first and then when i get bored of studying i was gonna make flash cards cuz thats jsut manual labor ahha =)
