First step is takes a deep breath and relax. It wasn't "that" bad. Take one day at a time and use multiple resources so you dont get burnt out reading the same books or watching the same videos.
I started with watching pathoma and kap videos by subject. For example, I'd spend a couple days or weeks (depending on my weakness) on one system (cardio, renal, pulm, ect) and watch all phys, path, pharm videos, ect.
I downloaded all the videos from
droslerslibraryofmedicine.selz.com for cheap. It was a life saver.
Biochem was a significant part of the exam. I watched a few biochem videos every other day to keep it fresh. I only reviewed my anatomy atlases (Netter's and Gilroy) a couple days a week but I did really well in anatomy my first year.
I also did USMLERx which helps but only to plow through first aid quickly.
At the end of each day I did about 10 uworld questions to start but more as the exam got closer. First thing the next morning, I review the questions from the previous day for about 30-40 mins during breakfast. On the weekend I did at least 50 questions daily but tried to relax a bit. YOU NEED TO STAY BALANCED OR YOUR'LL PERFORM POORLY (and piss off everyone around you)!
A week from the exam, I just did 200-300 questions every other day.
I wasn't in the top of my class gpa-wise but I was super happy with my step 1 score (>250) by using this method. Can't say if it will work for everyone.
Lastly...Start early! Do not procrastinate! It will only make you more stressed as the test comes closer. Even if you only start with 10 or so qbank questions daily for a couple weeks before diving into hardcore studying.
