Did anyone else get the rather cryptic email from Howard about interim status for their application? They stressed that you should NOT contact their Admissions Office, and said they'd be interviewing until late April, possibly into May. It also said you should hear from them by August 30 if you are rejected. I'm thinking they sent it to everyone. Although being as though I sent them a few letters of interest via email I was initially excited when I thought it might be a positive response. No such thing.

hmm, i wonder why i didn't get that email. when did you receive it? i have an upcoming interview there next month. did you interview there already? and if so, were you put on a waiting list or have you just not heard back from them yet?

I got the email today as well. Funny how it was dated March 8th, but it took them this long to actually send out the e-mail....but I guess thats Howard for you.

I still haven't heard anything from them about an Interview, and I live 20mins from the school. Now that they say they dont want you to contact them, how do you express intersest?

I called them today and was told that my file is under review, but no decision as of yet. I have not received that email, maybe I will by tomorrow. Also the admissions lady told me they will be interviewing until late May.- 😛

Hmm, didnt get it i dont think.
Late May, well maybe there's hope😛

i got the email from howard today also..it was also dated march 8. today is march 19..i'm not sure what's up. i guess we all should stay tuned. ?????????

hi guys!

i think that the e-mail that was sent out was for those that have not yet received an interview invite.

Hey I talked to admissions and they said they were interviewing until June and in June so there is still hope 🙂

not really cause i didnt get it, plus some friends of mine didnt and we are still waitin 4 an interview

June...hmm, with HU, more like July even

It could be one of those things where they only send it out in batches. I haven't gotten an invite, and the tone of it seemed like it was only to non-invitees. I live really close by as well, now I don't know how to express my interest. I'm tempted to just throw a suit on and walk in there in person and say what up, here I am, I love the school, whats the deal?

I STILL HAVE NOT RECIEVED THAT EMAIL. ANYONE ELSE HAPPEN TO RECIEVE THAT EMAIL TODAY.

Blazed,
You didn't miss much, but here's the email so you can read it.
I just had an epiphany....maybe they only sent the email out to people who have contacted the school via email recently. Just a guess though.

RE: NOTIFICATION OF APPLICATION REVIEW
Dear Applicant:

I am writing to inform you that we have received and reviewed your AMCAS application. Secondary applications are being reviewed on a rolling basis as they are received. Interviews are currently being conducted, and we expect to continue interviewing through the end of April, but no later than the end of May. If we are able to invite you to the College of Medicine for an interview with one of our Admissions Committee members, we will inform you of available dates in writing. Please do not contact the Office of Admissions to request an interview.

Applicants who have completed the application process, and who have not received an invitation to interview by May 31 should receive written notification of a final decision on or before August 30. Please forward all correspondence directly to the Office of Admissions, to insure that it becomes part of your application file.

We will consider applications with MCAT scores from 2000 through 2003 ONLY, that is, scores not more than three years old at the end of the current application year, 2003. Letters of recommendation must be dated during the application year 2002-2003, unless you are a reapplicant and have requested that we consider your letters of recommendation from the prior year's application, 2001-2002. You will receive no further correspondence regarding letters of recommendation or MCAT scores, so please review your materials to be sure they are sufficiently current.

Due to the large volume of applications, if we are not able to invite you to the College of Medicine for an interview, you will receive no further correspondence from our office regarding an interim status.

We appreciate your patience, and thank you for your interest in the College of Medicine.

Sincerely,
Dawn L. Cannon, M.D.
Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Admissions

Thank you Draino, I appreciate it.
