Anyone have an interview at Howard on Oct. 21?

I got my invite with the secondary. I'm flattered, are there other schools that do this?

it was a paper secondary, date stamped 9/30.

Howard does this, many people with the right MCAT and GPA get a secondary with an interview invite.

I just got my secondary from them today, dated Oct 8, i wish they would have waited till AUg scores came out 😛

Anyway Howard admissions office is crazy in my own opinion, after dealing with them last yr, myself and many on the board. I'll send off their secondary application off tomorrow, and see what becomes of it. Meharry is way more efficient than them. Dont dare call Howard on the phone, unless u want to be cursed out 🙁

My experience with Howard has been very pleasant so far. They were more than friendly over the phone.

Goodluck on your interview, from what I hear, the med students really love it. I actually do hope i get an interview from them as my file should be complete there anytime soon.

I volunteer at HUH, and sometimes I have to stop myself from just walking over to admissions and asking for a secondary!

no essays. just yes or no questions....very simple secondary.

i used a black ink pen because there was very lil to fill in..mostly checking or x-ing a yes or no box.

That IS a little unexpected. . .I'm curious: did they ask do you really want to go to HU. "Yes" box "No" box

no but close...they ask you if you plan to work in an underserved community check yes or no lol


they ask if you parents went to college and if your grandparents graduated from highschool check yes or no

its a fairly weak secondary

LOL, well I've friends with 24+ getting outright interviews, while another that had a 25 didnt. So its pobably like at least a 24 and above.

Anyone heard from Meharry, I was just complete there on Thursday, thats when they downloaded the MCAT scores

YES!

Due to my school holding my transcripts, I didn't vecome active until fairly recently, so I'm playing the waiting game. . .I just want to get IN.

An i have not heard a thing from Meharry (but that could be because I'm not verified 😡 )

I remember u hangin around here last application cycle thats why i asked. Hang in there, just be sure to send in secondaries as soon as u get them. My target now is within a day, time is key!!! For example, I got my secondary fro mich state yesterday, i did all 3 essays, turned it in today.

Meharry's own is not a big deal, just line up ur LORs, or even send them in, u can fill their secondary within 10mins max 😛 Ms Davis there is a real cool, helpful lady!
Are u in NY? what schls are u applyin 2?

BTW Howard is definitely more improved y'all, i just got acknowledgement of my secondary, the card was sent back in less than a week!!!!! 😱 😱 GO HU!!!

Yes, that was me last cycle! I was just tryin to garner as much advice and info about applying as well as be supportive. This is a SCARY process!!

My Lor's were written around May/June, so I just have to send those in. I am in DC (are u??)

As far as sending in the LORs without receiving a secondary, isn't that presumptious? I mean, would they be annoyed that they haven't even started a file but I'm sending them stuff? And are you applyin to any post-baccs?

That is how my premed committee for my ugrad works. At ALL of my schools, my LORS were received shortly after the AMCAS app(early aug), but in some cases well before i received a secondary. This can be risky, but so far all files have been noted complete except Howard. i am very worried about them losing or having lost already my LORs since they should have gotten them in August...and I JUST sent back my secondary. I have always assumed unless specifically asked not to (which my school sends out a list of those schools), everyone should/would send in the LORs when they are done....ASAP. I always thought a file was started with upon receipt of the AMCAS app.

Its all good hang in there, the whole thing is gettin ur secondaries back ASAP. I'm in Michigan, but usually in DC area, was there bout a month ago, a lot of friends/fam stay in the area.
What schls are u lookin at?
You can send LORs b4 sending secondaries, i usually send my LORs ahead, just so that all that is settled ahead of time. I'm not applyin to any post bacs, i heard Hampton and Wake Forest have good ones, Hampton's own i think is connected with Howard med. My schl MSU has one, they actually give u a stipend and acceptance to med schl the followin yr, so maybe if i get an interview and that doesnt go well, then i'll get referred to that

I didn't know about the Hampton PB. . .I thought about the MSU PB but it's kinda far. . .I like that it's a guaranteed admission though. . .I was processed on Wed so I am SO thrilled! It took like a total of two weeks!! I was thinking that I wouldn't be verified until the end of november. . .hopefully, I'll get that interview invite with the secondary, and Howard will put me out of my application misery
