Current MS1, feel free to message me with any questions! You guys got this🫶🏾
  1. Do you remember how long it took to hear about your interview invite?
  2. How did you feel that orientation and the first few weeks transitioned you into medical school?
  3. What's your favorite and worst parts about Howard?

Secondary received acknowledgment / full review email received just now

How did y'all send the AAMC preview scores? HUCOM isn't on the institution list for sharing scores on AAMC

might be a dumb question, but for this "Applicant's Highest Level of Education (i.e. High School Graduate, BA/BA (Bachelor's), MA/MS (Masters), Professional Degrees (PhD, MD, JD, DDS, PharmD)" if i still haven't graduated college should i just put (High School Grad.)

I took me a while personally but that's because I didn't apply u til September.

I did the PARP program which was perfect for my transition honestly

I love my classmates, I love the legacy,

some info from this application cycle's 1st First Friday:
the incoming class of 2029's matriculation data included:
- 5,684 secondaries submitted
- 410 interviews
- 286 acceptances
this is for howard so far?

Would love to hear more about PARP!

The Preliminary Academic Reinforcement Program (or PARP) is a 6 week pre-matriculation program meant to help specific disadvantaged incoming students to prepare them for beginning medical school. The students who start PARP are chosen by the admissions committee, not by the choice of the students. I think its for students whom the admissions committee predicts would have a harder time adjusting to the medical curriculum. The curriculum is composed of some of the topics you'd learn during first year. Once you pass the program, you'll get admission into the incoming class

Oh yeah I saw this on the website! I was meaning more of their personal experiences I guess. Like what were the classes like, etc.

1. Was your childhood home located in a rural, urban or suburban area? (250 words/3000 characters)

2. Have you lived in communities which are medically underserved, or where the majority of the population is economically and/or educationally disadvantaged? (250 words/3000 characters)

How are y’all answering these questions bc they gave us 250 words, but I feel like I can answer them in one sentence. I feel like the word limit is pushing it, are y’all reaching 250 words? Are you guys telling stories or just explaining your upbringing?

1) I described the area a bit and linked it back to how it affected access to healthcare
2)I described why I believed any of the categories applied to my upbringing, and how it has shaped my current situation.

Take this with a grain of salt though 😅, I am just an applicant.

FYI in their secondary portal they have "DO NOT USE AI software to complete any essay responses!" in bold so please be careful so they don't screen you out for this.
Ironically, the email conveying that information was itself poorly written and formatted. Yikes.

+1 secondary invite received OOS

I don't have a text box for question 1. It just has the boxes that you can check off, where are you guys seeing a place to type out an explanation?

Based on my understanding of the question, still need to give a description if your answer is no.
What about the covid question? They have an option to put N/A, can I do that since I was still in high school during covid? Or do i have to say no and then explain anyway?

250 words appears to be significantly less than 3000 characters. Which limit are you guys following?

The 250 words I just wrote was only about 1550 characters, so I am confused

I don’t think all 7/29 complete applicants got the fully reviewed email. I didn’t get it yet

+1 Application fully reviewed email.

aight, does this school accept the amcas fee waiver, y'all? I have been approved, but they still are charging me for the fee.

Nope they don't take the fee waiver, they make you pay the secondary fee even if you have the amcas fee waiver

any one complete 7/29 still haven’t received the reviewed email?

Yea it looks like they aren't going in order. So getting the reviewed email this early might be a good sign
Or a bad one 😭😭😭 they said II are sent at the end of August so let’s hope for the best

People got interview invites today according to admit and cycletrack

For anyone who received an acceptance to Howard Med with a January MCAT retake, what was the timeline from the school receiving your scores, getting an interview invite, then your acceptance? Were you placed on a waitlist? And if you don’t mind sharing, what were your stats? I was encouraged to take it in Jan and apply (already have a score but trying to shoot higher).
I also did a post bacc at another HBCU and they take January MCAT retakes on a case-by-case basis. I guess a follow up question is how can I maximize my chances at getting a late acceptance this cycle when I have a great application?
Thanks!
