Yo arijos (I think it's you), I wanna start screwing around with a raspberrypi this summer, but have 0 coding experience (besides a ****ty programming course I took in HS). Where should I start?

Honestly, get a book on Python programming. It's very compatible with the device, and the code will be cohesive. It's the primary programming language for the Raspberry Pi, and it is quickly becoming the industry standard.

Honestly since you are really new, get a Python Programming book (and in the meantime, or for simultaneous use) go on www.codeacademy.com and create an account. Skip and don't take the tutorial courses when you register, just go to Python and start.

Also know just some general programming terminology you can just get from a Google search.

Scratch is the entry-level programming language that comes as standard with the Raspberry Pi, but I suggest doing Python 110%.

**** MAKE SURE TO TRY TO FIT PROGRAMMING AT LEAST 20-30 MINUTES A DAY

This will make you decently adept in due time so you won't have to gaze at a textbook while coding.
 
Is there a book you recommend? Since I'm a poor college student, I'll probably just *allegedly* torrent it.

That's debatable and your view may be seen as subjective... :idea:

I used it when I first started, so I guess that makes me a dummy. But all that means is that you're at the bottom and you can only get "smarter" from there 😀

I dabble with the thought of doing everything. Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, Medicine, etc.

Haven't really noticed the defining thing that makes me think "wow, I can't believe I get to do this everyday... I love what I do."

I hear a lot of people say that and I want to find that as well. Just ONE epiphany where I won't change my mind about a career, and i'll just stick to it because I absolutely am infatuated with the idea.

I felt like I had to be doing something so I'm overly stressed having no fun in the summer before my senior year!
I work 30+ hours a week
Taking summer courses to boost my GPA. (one of them being intro to medical terminology which is interesting)
Volunteering at a hospital
at least trying to study for the ACT & looking for scholarships!

I was only a fan of Villuminati and Forbidden Fruit. Mainly because of the A Tribe Called Quest sample.

But anything beats that crap that was released onto the World called Yeezus. 👎

I've banked a few hours into the game already and I'm just so taken by it! The fact that it's not so driven by killing off the "zombies" type creatures and is focused on the interaction between humans makes it totally amazing!

for me, the more I listen to the album, the better it sounds lol. and yeah i was really disappointed with yeezus.. it is okay i think (maybe because I've always been a yeezy fan) but i know it should've been better. I mean the fact that it only has 10 songs 👎

anyone see that new Jay Z commercial announcing his album in like 3 weeks though? it just got real
 
Last of Us seems pretty sick! And Rich *****z still remains my FAVE song on Born Sinner! Lol!

GTA 5 is not yet announced for PC. Kill me now.
 
Untouchable is pretty good too. Along with everything else. His wordplay and references in his album Camp are phenomenal.

It seemed like more "808 & Heartbreak" crap IMO. Mac Miller's album should beat Kanye's!

Didn't know he already announced it. I knew Jay Z was gonna release another album soon. He tried to BS everyone talking about he was done with Albums. But I knew better 😉

Honestly, I think Weezy is way past his prime. After Sorry 4 Tha Wait, It all went downhill. It sucks too, because I really used to think Lil Wayne was the best rapper alive. :laugh:

I don't know if the Carter 4 came before or after Sorry for tha Wait but it was really good too. IANAHB 2 sucks badly. Just hoping he finishes strong!

It may not be any time soon though. I heard he had a few other projects before he was done (Devol, D5, Collab with Drake). Hopefully they come into fruition.
 
Yeah, this thread and hSDN needs to be more active.

So far my summer is going well, I'm kind of busy though...I have a veterinary science competition for the FFA on Wednesday. I really under estimated this competition, there's so much information that has to be memorized. We have an assessment on veterinary technology and practices, a math practicum, an ID test [breeds(cats, dogs, goats, poultry, cattle, etc.) and medical equipment], parasitology, and clinical rounds.

Also, I start my internship at a vet hospital July 1st working four days a week, which is pretty exciting. I'm also becoming trained to help at the animal rescue.

The only bad news this summer so far was my SAT score. IT WAS TERRIBLE~ So terrible I won't even post my score. I even studied a month before, too. I just hope I do well for the October SAT.
