hSDN Class of 2014

I was disappointed. I liked the motivation behind the songs but they failed to impress me.
After listening to it some more, I take that statement back. It actually is brilliant!!

Hope everyone had a safe and exciting 4th of July!

600th Post!:banana::soexcited::soexcited:

^ lol what i expected. only heard the 1st song so far lol, but it was really good. Could or could not be possibly looking for leaks

i actually was told Wale's album was REALLY good too! Worth a listen at least 👍

Applying to ASU Barrett and regular. Biochem major, begin ready to get this year over with because I technically only need 3 more credits but the school requires me to take at least 6. 🙁

AP Bio and AP calc. And the easy ones are weights and TA. Should be decent.

Welcome aboard 🙂 - posted from Las Vegas

Hey everyone! First post here on SDN and I certainly hope for it to be a wonderful reference throughout my prospective medical education.
Anyways, I know it's only July... But is anyone else ready to get senior year over with already? It's almost application time... Where is everyone planning on applying?
Also, what classes are you guys planning on taking next year? I'm doubling up AP Chem & Bio, should a decent challange 😎

3 more classes and I'm done with High School 😀 👍

Welcome to the Forums! 🙂

You don't have to take a minimum to fill up your senior year schedule? WTF.

Lucky! I want to get out of HS and start college already, shesh.😀

Hello, welcome to the forums 🙂

I'm applying to:

- University of the Sciences - planned major: Pharmacology and Toxicology

- The University of Chicago (just to see if I can get in) - planned major: Biological sciences
- University of Maryland - planned major: Animal Sciences, pre-vet option
- The Ohio State University - planned major: Microbiology
- Virginia Tech - planned major: No clue, this is also a high reach school for me

As you can see I don't have a solid major, I have different interests lol.

- AP language & comp.
- Sports medicine
- AP political science
- Latin II
- AP physics C mechanics

Welcome 🙂

Haha I feel you! Oh well, we will have a Class of 2014 SDN reunion sometime during upperclassmen years of college!

This must be done. Can't wait. Can't wait until I see us getting into medical school.. Pretty awesome.

Oh man, that is going to be one hell of a time! Especially during application cycle!

The application cycles are going to suck, but hopefully worth it in the end.

personally I kinda had fun doing the college apps for the most part.. Maybe just because my colleges' apps was easy 😉

essays are a different story though. By December I never wanted to do anything college preparedness related for a whhillee

Essay will suck if I don't get a meaningful experience doing something medicine related during undergrad! Hopefully something will come up that will be a stellar essay topic.

seriously. i'm very scared of writing it and coming off fake..

coming from a newly graduated high school student who won't apply for at least 3 years haha

Lol I'm just going to try to be as involved as I can, so when essays come along, I'll have a good amount of stuff to write about. With the addition on "fluff" it should be interesting! Oh well, I should go to sleep instead of thinking about med school essays! lolol

I know it's crazy right?!

I took a dual enrollment class not knowing that It would be considered 2 credits at my HS. Now I just need 3 credits to graduate instead of 4. Now I get to choose between "Late Departure or Early Arrival". Which means I can either arrive at school during Second Period or Leave during fourth. Decisions, Decisions 😀

EDIT: 200th Post 😀

Wow you lucky duck! I wish we had something like that! I am stuck in HS for another year just for 3 credits. FML. lol

It'll be so cool to leave early from school lol. A lot of students in my school do that.

Just being random here, but my school has pathways that students choose based on their career interest. I chose the natural resources and agriculture career pathway. You have to take certain classes pertaining to this pathway and this counts towards graduation. I finished my pathway last year. Does any you guys have this in your schools? I think it's pretty cool.

we had those and called them academies. There was finance, medical, culinary, ect. Pretty cool stuff.

Anyone looked at the common application prompts for this year's applications yet?

i've heard they don't really change much from year to year, so honestly you could probably start now if you wanted.

Ya it sucks! Oh well!

And Developer: Nope, I am only applying to one college and that is ASU so I don't think I need to do the common app.

that's insane. lol I was going to recommend not doing this, then I saw their acceptance rate  still, you should apply early just to be sure 👍 plus you'll have peace of mind that you know where you're going for basically the whole school year.

Yeah I'm going to do early application. Barrett is a little more challenging but if I don't get in, it shouldn't be a big deal to get into regular and then transfer to Barrett after 2 years.

I made a humongous oopsie daisy today in the clinic.....I feel really, really, REALLY bad about it.

I was refilling a prescription, and I think I counted the wrong number of tablets! I don't think it's an "I think" anymore, I know for sure the count was wrong. I'm so toast, I'm scared to show up tomorrow.

They let you refill prescriptions?

That's what I was thinking hahaha! That seems pretty hardcore for a high schooler. Fantasy, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't let you refill them anymore. Just learn and move on.

While I'm doing it, I'm being supervised by a veterinary technician. It's not my first time doing it, and the tech was on lab, but I was near her. She gave me the bottle, the sticker label and the pill counter tray.

It sucks, because I enjoyed doing it and they trusted me. If you think about it, that's money down the drain, medication is expensive. I work tomorrow anyway, so I'll talk to her...........

Don't worry too much bud, everyone makes mistakes!

Thanks, I'll make sure I count it three times lol.

Life in a vet clinic = stressful, but full of surprises, that why I like it so much.

I feel bad for the person at my lab that made a $100k mistake, she did something wrong in the lab and it ended up being costly! Slightly funny tho.

Talking about the lab, next week Tuesday is my last day 🙁

Post Doc said he wants me to work there next summer and during my pre-med years and I have a chance for a publication! Woooooooooooo! I love that lab! Sad to leave for a year 🙁

it's worth it though. Senior year is pretty awesome, at least was for me and my friends.

Also, sorry to hear about the pharmacy thing. Let us know how it turns out, hopefully they appreciate your honesty.

I just got back from college orientation though 👍 pretty awesome

Never said it wouldn't be fun 😉 Just sucks that I can't start my pre-med journey lol. OH well, hopefully I will get to relax and kick back with friends more this year!

ahh i feel you. Yeah it can kinda suck from that perspective and I had the same problem, but instead I basically used it as a "GPA booster"/"go home and make pancakes while you watch netflix" year. Makes it worthwhile.
