Dear Moderators,
I have not been on this site in a while. I typically come here to ask specific questions that I am having a hard time finding an answer to. This is one of the few places I have access to clinical pharmacists with a bunch of hospital experience. I recently posted a question dealing with difficulty achieving therapeutic INR in patients who are postpartum. If you take a look at the thread there have been a few responses but none that I would call complete answers to my question. Last night I received a response from a poster (SDN1977). This was a great response from someone I trust as I have spoke quite a bit with that person and respected their opinion. I specifically waited a couple of days and then private messaged SDN1977 and epic about the issue because there hadn't been a response. SDN1977 claimed to ask permission from you guys and claimed to not have received a response from you.
I don't know why sdn1977 was banned or why you removed the post. I thought this site was supposed to a place to exchange ideas and thoughts. SDN1977 did this and stated they were being careful with the post.
What you have done hurts anyone who comes to this site trying to gain insight into difficult to answer questions. I wish I would have know that the post was going to be pulled I would have copied the information and printed out. As the way things are now I wished I had read the post more.
Thanks alot SDN moderators
DR

I read SDN's post and thought it was quite informative, and a good response overall. I do not get what was the problem? Why was the post withdrawn/deleted? If we dont exchange clinical information, etc. . . then it makes this forum boring with boring repeats of pharmacy a 100k scam, and other same old posts that were repeated hundreds of time. Other forums do it, why cant we. . .

I thought SDN answered it quite well... I didn't have anything else to add...

Of course she posted under a different ID.

I am sorry that you are angry and frustrated. If you would still like the content of the deleted post, I would be glad to PM it to you.

As a matter of policy, when someone is banned multiple times they are no longer allowed to post on site. If they wish to request an exception to this policy, they need to refrain from posting until they have been granted permission to do so. That is the sole reason for removal of the post.

so tell us why they were banned.. her posts have been nothing but informative.. i agree this is a place for the exchange of ideas.. post about salaries..and t shirt ideas get old real quick..

It must have been something of personal-vendetta quality. I can't imagine someone actively enforcing rules in the pharmacy forums for one specific person. But I, too, am very interested in what caused this to happen in the first place as I have nothing but respect for her wisdom-filled posts.

I think I'll quit the forum before I get banned....

You can't ban me...cuz I quit!

that is something that has never been made clear to the rest of us - the hows and whys of the banning. what rules were broken etc.

I participate in several online BBs and usually it is VERY obvious why someone was banned. I know the mods/admins don't have to answer to every request for info and there may be more we don't know but to have such an influential member unable to join us seems odd.

Many moderators on here seem like tools but that is just the way it is, informative posts get taken down and threads that have been repeated 1,000 times live on. Those moderators really do a bang up job don't they??👍

I agree with you guys, we need an explanation on why they were banned. We need to know so we don't make the same mistake and get banned.
SDN1977 has been nothing but a valuable asset on this forum. People like her and epic should be able to get away with minor offences because we all know that they don't mean any harm.

I resemble that remark!!! Cuz I mean many harm !!!😡

I would suggest doing what another board I am a member of does - create a special public thread where all the bans (temporary or permanent) are announced, and the reasons explained with the specific rule cited. That removes a lot of uncertainty, IMHO.

I am one of the Moderators of a PC Help forum. When we ban someone whose behavior is out of line, we don't usually make a big deal of it. I always respected SDN1977 and I have no idea why she was banned. That is a private matter between her and the MODS. As a moderator I can tell you that when you ban someone and they join with a different name it is just a tad annoying.

All of you stop being so voyeuristic. It is none of our business. It would be wrong for the mods to publicly embarrass SDN1977 by describing her transgressions. I don't think they did it for fun and giggles. If she wanted us to know her side of the story, she could have posted it as one her alter egos. She chose not to.

Her wisdom is greatly missed. It would benefit us all if she were to apply for reinstatement, but again that is between her and the moderators. We may want to know what happened, but we don't have the right to know what happened.

Wow, its hard to believe SDN1977 is banned. . . how come it doesn't say banned by her name though? So unbelievable 😱

Please forward sdn1977's post to me. I understand why the post was pulled but you guys need to do something about pulling really useful information like this. I have performed a ton of scientific searches trying to find information on my topic and have found one paper by using information in SDN's post. By pulling that post not only have the moderators done a disservice to me but also to anyone else on the board that was looking to learn about the subject. I can understand pulling a post that is bashing someone else or trolling but what you pulled had none of that and was specifically answering a question I had pm'd sdn. SDN also claimed to have ask permission to post. If this was the case i can understand you wanting SDN to wait for approval but at the same time how long should I have to wait for an answer. Sdn could have answered by pm'ing me but that would have done a disservice to the entire board, I would have been the only one gaining an education if that had happened. I don't know how you guys can fix the problem, but something needs to be done because people are angry with how this was handled.
One last thing SDN didn't try to cover their identity. They were upfront and honest. They could have just posted under a new account and pm'd me letting me know the post was from SDN.
I really hope something can be done about this, it would be a shame to lose valuable resources like SDN and EPIC because of how this was handled.

It's hard to say what constitutes a person being banned on any forum. It really is up to the whims of those running the joint. It's also why I'm not a moderator here. I'd ban people for saying that Pat White is anything less than awesome. Obviously I wouldn't want that type of person consorting with me or good, honest people on ANY web forum. I'm told that many people disagree with that, though I don't understand why. That said, it's hard to tell what would set off an arbitrary moderator somewhere.

Though in my experience, I've been banned from a forum about cities, real estate, etc for saying that New Jersey sucks.....and I've been banned from a Michigan football forum for saying that their new coach likes to fornicate with a variety of animals and objects as well as noting that I wished he died a slow, painful death. In both instances, though they are my true views on both subjects, the posts were frowned upon rather heavily leading to a ban.

The banable offense likely falls in between those two occurrences somewhere.

Didn't intend to be voyeuristic. And of course we don't have a "right" to know what happened. But as others said, her screenname hasn't been listed as banned. And when she posted, she seemed perplexed as to why she couldn't sign in as SDN77..that's all.

Well, you only need to see SDN's last post to see where she pissed off some people. Still, that's not a good reason to kick her off the forum. I piss off people all the time. What's worse is that she's not banned...just can't access the site?

What kind of game are they playing? SDN is one of the most insightful members of this forum.

Nah....the black letters mean she be gone....

I agree, her ideas/posts and your (Epic) ideas/posts have given me great fodder for my pharmacy school interviews the past few months.

I was wondering where her insightful posts went.

Yeah, I'm surprised this s/n of mine is still around. I belittle/insult every other person asking stupid questions in the pre-pharm forum and still no warning 🙂

After looking through her posts, it seems that she angered the core founding members of SDN. He asked her to leave the forums, and that made her indignant. I'd be pretty angry too.

i had no idea that there was so much tension between doctors and nurses and that there would be degenerative yelling matches on SDN. Most of it is due to miscommunication problems, by the look of it. The more I think about it, the same things could happen in this forum too. Think about the arguments that pharmacists and techs must get into...the difference being that many of the latter become the former.

That's not surprising, but thanks for posting that as I had a good laugh.

I read a few of her last posts and yes, it seems she served up some humble pie to some interns and they got real uppity about it. Although, it was interesting to see that All4MyDaughter said that input and contributions from ALL the members here is welcome...except for SDN1977's apparently. I liked reading her responses, when I had time of course, and have looked through the rules for this forum and personally can't see what would warrant having her posts deleted. That leaves me to think that someone simply has a personal issue with her and also happened to be in a position of power to make sure she can't post here anymore. Too bad that when some people get any amount of power or authority they begin to abuse it. Good thing those people don't have any authority over her in the real world.

Actually, I think that's why she's quite the supporter of expanding pharmacists' duties and capabilities. Most people wouldn't be so sensitive about the topic if they haven't been stepped on in some manner. It's probably why she wouldn't tolerate their dismissive comments. Regardless, she knows that she's welcome (for the most part) here and that we value her input greatly - and that's what matters.

sometimes we forget that it's just the internet...

That's precisely the problem, going off here is significantly easier then going off in the world of ... Real... Life... because there is a cloak of anonymity.

I'm curious, how many forums have you mod'ed in the past? It's probably one of the most thankless jobs ever, because even when you follow the rules people bitch. Not to mention you can't really post open thoughts because you have to maintain an air of impartiality. Having great information to provide doesn't give you license to run off at the mouth on here, there has to be boundaries and they need to be uniformly enforced.

The simple solution to this is to have SDN send the information to the OP and the OP can quote-post it in the thread. That doesn't violate the TOS (though possibly the spirit of the rule is trashed) and the information isn't lost.

I disagree with banning and removing posts. And banning someone is a forum thing not a private thing. Pharmacyweek.com use to be a very interesting forum. Then a new moderator came into control and basically began screening most posts. A post would be submitted and before it would be posted she had to approve it. Communication became difficult. She would not allow any post SHE didn't like. The result was no one hardly goes there anymore. Its been a long time since I came here. A while ago a couple years there were a lot of posts removed and people banned if the mod didn't like a post. Even if the post was truthful. Since I've only been here a couple of times recently I don't know if the same attitude is here. But one thing that is 100% true is banning and removing posts simply because a mod doesn't like one is not a good thing. Just an old mans opinion The truth should never be sensored.

Haha! That's probably because of the clever "I'm mean and snarky because I love you 😍" disclaimer in your signature. 😀

I too was saddened by the disappearance of SDN1977. When I joined this forum last August, she was one of the posters that stood out not only as a helpful and knowledgeable resource, but a sincerely caring person as well. While it's true that this is just the internet, I guess perhaps the human/emotional side got the best of us in certain posts and here we are today with no SDN77.

I'm confident she'll be back one day though, and we can throw her a warm "Welcome Back!" party. I'll even buy drinks for everyone ... moderators included. 😉

I don't understand why the original offensive posts in the link above were not removed but the informative one that answered a question was removed.

I agree. But as you know, the internet is serious a serious place. Looks like someone's ego got bruised and someone tried to disguise it.

Yes your avatar is very bad. I'm actually becoming more and more offended by the second. :scared:

Yeah it looks she hurt the feelings of the wrong person. What a crappy way to run a forum. Where is the professionalism at?

Hey Moderators

Shouldn't you be monitoring and deleting posts from previously banned posters?

Sure sounds like ole banned SlaveRph to me...

Good point, Moose. The scary thing is when the "cloak of anonymity" turns out to not be as anonymous as one thinks. For example, in a different forum (not on Student Doctor Network) I came across a post by someone I knew. In that thread, the poster made some disrespectful comments about a good friend of mine. Ever since I saw that, it forever changed my impression of that poster, and I've been debating whether to tell my friend about that issue or to just keep quiet.
