I was hoping for a much more interesting story. Like a Hangover type situation where you found a tiger in the bathroom and you couldn't go take your exam because it's gross to leave the house without brushing your teeth.

Depending on the course, they might make up a new exam for you, you might get an F, or they might allow you to resubmit. Only time will tell.
 
What does a timed essay taken at home mean? Is there a set start time that you manually start and try to complete it before the timer reaches zero? Or what?

lol...uh yes. If you know anyone who went to Rice Uni, particularly for grad school, you may hear them tell you that they had "take home" exams where they are told that they can only spend X hours on the exam. And, even funnier, sometimes a particular question will have a limit like, "you can only spend X minutes on this question."

I had this for grad school exams too! Take home, closed notes, timed exams. Way to test your moral fiber. I always wondered how many people actually followed the time limit... :angelic: We also had an exam where you pick it up from the professor, then you can go wherever you want to actually take the test and just return it to him after 3 hours.

I assume grad students don't cheats on those tho, since they don't really cares about getting As. Those pesky overachieving undergrads on the other hand... :thinking:

You could have proved that you did it on time just by including the file as an attachment when you emailed the TA.

I feel like you were asking questions that none of us could answer. The best thing to do is to remain calm or take a moment to remind yourself everything is going to be okay. It seems you were relying on SDN to tell you it's going to be okay. Things like this happens and as long as you have an explanation then you should be fine. Professors/TAs are human too and not a computer that closes its doors if you don't meet a deadline. Strict deadlines are in place for a reason but I would assume in your case you would be excused. Don't beat yourself about the decision to take it at home. Just work on improving your perspective in stressful situations. Think more positive or take action immediately to resolve the situation. In clinical rotations in med school, you're gonna mess up, miss a deadline, order the wrong medicine, go to the wrong floor, misunderstand the attending, etc. But, you'll go crazy if you think about how that will affect your grade. I know this case is different being a final but I think how you handle current situations will dictate how you handle future ones. Best of luck and enjoy your winter break!
 
Lol, no joke when I read your comment in another thread about writing a time sensitive essay in bed I thought, "I hope nothing happens." Weird... @lalex

I'm just asking for clarification! So you turned in the corrected final a while after a corrupted final. So your finals were turned in and you should be fine.

Where do your friend and the Dean come into play?

I turned in the correct one to my TA and an explanation to both. My professor told me I'm fine. I DONT FEEL FINE.

My friend is the dean (lol). I was jk but I don't like my advisor so I aways go to her.

Lawper, are you trying to mess with me? I turned it in late (an actual GOOD copy). She said she got in and will have to take my word on it. Which I'm glad... Because I wasn't spending 5 hours editing it, I was freaking sleeping.

Last time I'm answering before finishing my paper.

No of course not. I've had it for weeks now. I am doing it on Google Docs because my computer is ****ty and stops working. But, I will upload in 30 min before and just copy it into a word doc instead of downloading as one.

He said he's glad the issue is resolved so I am assuming TA and him have been communicating.
