This may be a stupid question..but
How come drugs have common endings like sodium, bitartrate, tartrate, sulfate, HCL, succinate... a couple others.
Levothyroxine sodium, hydrocodone bitartrate, metoprolol tartrate, magnesium sulfate, metformin HCL, metoprolol succinate...are examples.
But I see that these show up alot, why are they so commonly used in combinations? Make the drug more stable? I don't remember learning this in class. Someone please explain thanks!
