Oof, grades are coming in. I had a rough semester what with flying to interviews every 2-3 weeks, but that's not really an excuse. I have two C+'s in upper-division chemistry courses (super advanced biochem and advanced analytical), and I'm terrified of what this will do to my acceptances. Should I call and tell them now or just let it slide hoping they won't care?

These are my only C's ever. I am honestly freaking out. :scared:

I definitely feel you on this one! I'm on the bubble right now between B and C in analytical and my final is this Thursday.. 😱

I've never had but a few scattered B's and never a C before but I'm definitely worried about the fact that it could soon be a very real possibility! Hopefully it won't matter since Analytical isn't a dental prereq and a C is still passing right? Lol nice to know there are others in the same boat!

Hi,

So in my acceptance letter - one form said you must get a grade of C or better in the remaining courses your signed up in...I think you'll be okay actually! But if you are really worried - maybe email the adcom...if they already accepted you it means they want you and you could explain the situation - missing school for interviews etc its tough for sure. And I know they appreciate students being up front with them...I think it won't affect you!

Keep your grades up. I have friend who got a Dec 1st acceptance last year and because of one C+ his spring semester they rescinded him.

Wow... omg do you happen to know what class he got C+ in? Is it one of the pre-reps or just a random class 🙁

not sure if serious. what school did this and was that class a prereq? lets lay out all the facts on the table first.

Received an email from UoP saying that I had to get at least a B in the rest of my classes until graduation. I wouldn't be surprised that that happened. Some schools are much more strict with this than others though.

Same thing, here. UCSF said if I get a grade lower than B, I have to call the admission office.

I would call the school to see if its ok.

Is this policy for certain individuals or for all people who got acceptances at UOP?

Yes, it was from UOP. Upon the completion of a semester of a grades no lower than a B, my friend was told they would reinterview. The C+ was not in a pre-req class. It was in Physio, my friend was taking three science classes that semester and did well in the other two. It surprised me too, but that's how it is.

Wait...so your friend got in on 12/1 and was told he had to reinterview to keep his spot? This is all scaring me a lot. UoP isn't one of my schools (thankfully) and the one I will most likely attend said that "successful completion" of courses was needed to keep admission. Passing is successful, yes? I'll call tomorrow, I guess. Time to see if I can find a few extra points somewhere on those finals...

why do they have to be sooo strict about it? We have worked for years to get to this point. They cant even give us a break. I am sorry for those who have been in this situation. 🙁

so basically this policy applies towards UOP and thats it? I wouldnt worry about this too much, if it only applies towards one school. Not to mention I think as long as your offer letter states exactly what you need you'll be fine.

But I do agree that you should work hard to keep up your grades, even thought you're nearly finished.

I'm in the same boat here. My MWU-AZ letter said a C or better in all pre-reqs. I was getting worried about Ochem II for a minute there, but then noticed it's not a "pre-req" for MWU anyway :claps: It's looking like I should barely get a C or better anyway though.

My GPA will probably drop by 0.1 just from this semester, but hey, I went on interviews, had my second child (well, my wife did), and we all caught croup in succession this semester, so I figure I did okay. I think adcoms will be understanding if you have justifiable circumstances... whether or not they consider multiple interviews justifiable, I don't know. UoP sounds pretty dang strict... I'm kind of glad I didn't apply there now.

That's a real sucky situation.

Phwew... This thread really worried me! This last quarter was my worst one yet (interviews killed the GPA), but I just emailed my school and they told me they dont have a minimum GPA for my remaining classes!! 😀

Meaning you can fail them all? 😀

Other than U of P, I wouldn't be concerned about a single C. Especially if it isn't a required course.

I'm getting, or so far this semester, all A's. Except for one class, which, if I bust my ass over the next 19 hours, I can get a B. But, I'll prob just settle for a C. This is juggling interviews, writing a thesis, writing materials/methods for a paper, tutoring a freshman bio student, carrying 17 hours.. And I'm married, house, dogs, etc.

We have all worked our collective assess off to get this far. We are accepted and providing we don't screw the pooch, we should be fine.
