i am applying for dental school this summer, and i am really confused about the whole application process. my school's hpo literally won't tell me anything besides the obvious things (like apply as early as you can, you need to shadow, you need letters, you need a transcript) and i'm starting to pick up bits and pieces from this forum, but i was wondering if someone who's already applied or will be applying who knows EVERYTHING about the process and just help me out and answer some of my questions and basically put my bits and pieces of knowledge together so that i don't feel so screwed.

i would reallyyyyy appreciate ittttt.

PM me!.

I'm in the same boat! For those of you who have already gone through this process, please share your wisdom.

1. Having your app submitted is different from having it completed. You can submit 1st thing on June 3rd but your app can still be "late" if you don't have it complete in time. For it to be complete you have to have LORs and DAT scores in. These 2 things are the most common things for making an app late.

Try to have your app complete (not just submitted) by late July. Otherwise you stand a good chance of not getting any pre-Dec interviews, especially if your stats are not stellar.

I'm also wondering, but say you didn't satisfy English requirement at the time of submitting in June so you state on your application that you're going to take them in the summer semester. Will your application be treated as incomplete until your English grades are reported?

2. Most schools don't require you to have your pre-reqs completed by the time you apply. They will assume you will have them done by the time you start dschool. Assuming a person has submitted their app, only DAT scores, LORs, and secondaries (if applicable) will hold your app back but not prereqs.

Will you be at any disadvantage compared to people who completed all the prereq's and thus have all the prereq grades on transcript?

And I think one of the sticky's on top of this forum should be, "HOW TO APPLY TO DENTAL SCHOOL."

I like the "which schools should I apply to" thread, but I feel a lot of posts could be saved if there was a how to apply thread.

Just a thought, moderators.
