I am a junior finishing my fall semester at a lower level Ivy League university and I am also a varsity athlete.
Both of which are hurting my GPA. The classes at my school are difficult and being on a sports team is time intensive. Does anyone know how much these two things will benefit me for applying to medschool? Should I drop the varsity sport to save my GPA?

Any guidance would be really appreciated.

In all honesty, most schools don't take into account where your undergrad years were at. Sports looks good on your application (shows your discipline, mental strength, etc.) but it will not be held against you if you drop it to study and raise your GPA. With me, I dropped track to focus more on my classes because although the GPA may not be the ultimate factor in getting in, it (and the MCAT) are what open the door for you to get an interview in the first place.
