I'm a junior in high school and I've wanted to become an anesthesiologist since I was knee high to a grass hopper. Next year I'm going to shadow an anesthesiologist during my senior year of high school. There's a slight problem I wasn't very smart about my ninth and tenth grade year. My GPA is 2.89 and I was wondering if there is even a chance of me becoming one. I've straightened up and my junior year I've got all A's and B's and I'm very determined to become an anesthesiologist can anyone help? I'm also 16 years old

Medical schools don't see/consider grades, shadowing, or volunteer experiences from high school - keep your GPA up, get into a good university, and from there make sure your GPA doesn't slip. You'll be fine!

The same thing pretty much happened to me too; I'm a junior. Don't mess up from here on out and you'll be good.

You don't have to go to Harvard to get into medical school. Like others have said, medical schools don't care and won't ask about your high school career. Stay on the path and you'll be just fine, young one.

Focus on the SAT/ACT and bring that GPA up. Apply to a traditional 4 year university and do extremely well (high MCAT score + high science GPA) and you should be well on your way.

In all honesty, once you start college, no one cares about anything you've done in high school (grades, classes, etc.). They're irrelevant.
