Hi all,

I've been very fortunate to be accepted to both schools and am having trouble deciding.

-I've heard about P/F grading at PNWU vs Lettergrades at ICOM
-PNWU seems to be more established for clinical rotations
-PNWU campus is open 24/7 to students while I think ICOM is 8am to 5pm
-Non-profit vs for-profit

I like the idea of living in Idaho but wonder if it would be easier to succeed at PNWU.

What do y'all think?

If any current or former students would be willing to reach out I'd really appreciate it! I'm feeling torn.

Someone that is still on campus should probably update the current operating hours for the building at ICOM, but 8-5 is just when stuff tends to be on the schedule. Even during summer hours it was 7 AM - 8 PM. I don't remember what the opening time during the academic year was since it's been a bit, but iirc closing was something like 10 PM.

Do you recall if the hours were the same for the anatomy lab? I tend to be a night owl.

The anatomy lab has its own schedule since we use ISU's. I don't really remember the general schedule for evening access.

I'm biased being from the northwest but I would choose PNWU! I know people who have matriculated there and they are having a great time. Their match list is pretty impressive as well.

Would you mind elaborating on this?
how long they have been producing doctors and profit vs non-profit. There are many threads about those topics here. New schools have troubles with their curriculum that takes a few years to iron out. Newer schools have less alumni to network with. Newer schools tend to have weaker rotation sites. Especially with the proliferation of new schools, go to the school that will help you even if it’s in the less desirable location.

Do you think it matters that PNWU promotes primary care? I'm considering surgical specialties.
