If you are an avg. student and have 2.5 months to prepare for the DAT the second time (I took it once last summer), how many hours will you spend to study for the DAT? I thought about 8+ hours per day (and quit my part time job) but that isn't realistic. What do you guys think? I know it varies from people to people but how many hours is the optimal # of hours for you...not too many and not too little?

I don't think it matters how many hours you put in as long as you get the materials covered.

Go with what you feel is enough. No one can tell you how much time you should be spending. I will ask you this though, is DAT score more important or your part time job?

I say do 8 hours of quality studying every day for 2.5 months is more than enough.

are you guys studying subject by subject, or studying all (bio, pat, rc, qr, oc, gc) at the same time?

It has changed over time for me. I used to have a daily to-do list, but that has become more work for me. I have more of say weekly goals, which gives me more flexibility and make it feel like less work. So if I feel like bio one minute, i'll do bio. If I feel like another subject another minute, then I'll switch. As long as I meet my weekly goals, then I'm happy. For once, I'm trying to enjoy studying for this test.

The bottom line is that it's all about hardwork than anything unless you're a freakin genius.
