So, what's going on with my Chi-town (and greater IL) applicants? I have heard little or nothing as of yet from most schools (except for rejections of course). Here's me:

SIU: screener's alternate
UC: rejected
Rosalind: rejected
Northwestern: ???????
Rush: ???????
Loyola: ???????

BTW, I know there are Illinois school threads and acceptance threads but they are either fractured, confusing or dead by now.

UIC has started rejecting? When did you find this out?

My bad, I meant University of Chicago Pritzker. 😳

*Whew*! You almost gave me a heart attack! 🙂

Here's my list:

UIC: Applicant in Process
Rush: ?
Rosalind Franklin: Rejected (wtf?)
Northwestern: Rejected (I'll remember this the next they ask me for an alumni donation)
UChicago: Did not apply
Loyola: ?
SUI: Screeners Alternate

I agree I'm another IL resident and have only heard bad news so far, and even that has been scarce. Any good news from some IL schools would be greatly appreciated

UIC: Application in Process
Rush: ??? but only after being crushed by a fake interview invite
Rosalind Franklin: ???
Northwestern: ???
UChicago: Rejected
Loyola: Hold
SUI: Didn't Apply

Hey-at least the Bears are 8-1. That's good for something!

Go Bears! Yeah, I agree though, if I get just ONE IL interview, I might just crap my pants out of joy.

Well, my stats aren't superb (31P Mcat and 3.3gpa), but I have gotten a couple out-of-state interviews. So I'm really hoping for a Loyola interview (not much hope of a NW I'm afraid...)

UIC: Applicant in Process
Rush: ?, but fake interview invite as well
Rosalind Franklin: did not apply
Northwestern: rejected...status page lies...
UChicago: did not apply
Loyola: Hold "for further review"...bleh
SUI: AWPA

UIC: Applicant in process...
SIU: Interviewed, waiting to hear...
Rosalind: Rejected a few weeks ago
Loyola: Rejected early on
Northwestern: Rejected yesterday (nicest letter though)
Rush or Pritzker: Didn't apply (or I'd have been rejected by now)

Yea SIU--loved that school!! Hope is not dead, but I am formulating plans B-D as we speak! Good luck everyone!

Let me just add: GO BEARS! My 3-year-old just learned to say Rex Grossman and believe me, my husband eats it up (an unheard of extra piece of candy for any new Bears words)!

I heard "hold for further review" at Loyola is not a bad thing. I heard that a large percentage of last year's class was in that category for a while.

That's about where I am (29 MCAT, though). I am not really stressing about the process anymore, seeing as I have two DO acceptances, one of which is in Chicago. My priorities are now planning my trip to Europe this summer. Still, for the amount of money I've spent on this whole process, it would be nice at least to get an interview at UIC.

Good luck to all IL residents! We pay our taxes, we should get some preference for it!

UIC: Applicant in process
SIU: did not apply
Rosalind: still have to submit secondary... (i know, i know....)
Loyola: ???
Northwestern: withdrew pre-secondary
Rush: ??? (got the fake invite too 😡 )
Pritzker: did not apply

UIC: Applicant in process
SIU: did not apply
Rosalind: Interview 11/21
Loyola: Hold for later review
Northwestern: Under Review (I seem to have escaped the round of rejection letters but its still been a while....)
Rush: ??? (got the fake invite too )
Pritzker: Rejected

UIC: Applicant in process - complete over 3 months ago
SIU: did not apply
Rosalind: did not apply
Loyola: Hold for later review
Northwestern: Rejected
Rush: ??? (got the fake invite too ) - complete over 3 months ago
Pritzker: Interviewed almost 8 weeks ago...???

That whole applying early thing doesn't seem to work in Illinois. It just gives you more time to be ignored.

UIC: Applicant in process
SIU: Accept When Place Available
Rosalind: did not apply
Loyola: did not apply
Northwestern: Rejected
Rush: No word...
Pritzker: pre-interview HOLD

and i agree with Helena's comment. I made sure Illinois secondaries were the first ones in. Now i wish i would have gotten others in sooner. That would be my advice to future Illinoian applicants. No point in applying early to Northwestern, Rush, or Illinois.

I feel the same way. It seems like two things happened: 1) the schools either rejected me at first sight (which would happen regardless of when I sent in my app) or 2) the schools were planning on looking at all apps, then choosing the best ones first. Which makes it seem like there is no advantage for applying early in Illinois.

UIC: applicant in process (changed today)
SIU: did not apply
Rosalind: ??? (sent in application last week)
Loyola: hold for further review
Northwestern: "currently still under review"
Rush: ???
Pritzker: pre-interview hold

i have a bad feeling i will have to reapply again......

UIC: applicant in process
SIU: screeners alternate
Rosalind: "file complete", still waiting.....
Loyola: sent in secondary today
Northwestern: did not apply
Rush: did not apply
Pritzker: did not apply

I've had really good luck with IL schools so far.

UIC: Application in process
SIU: Accepted (well, "accept when place available")
Rosalind: Offered interview invite, I declined
Loyola: Accepted
Northwestern: Did not apply
Rush: No word...
Pritzker: Did not apply

I hate being an Illinois resident, there seems to be no advantage at all. I know it's not like California, but it feels close. Any word from UT-Houston? All those acceptances today made me feel like crap.

UIC: Application is in process and Applicant in process shuffle
SIU: Screeners Alt
Rosalind: Pre-Interview Hold
Loyola: Not sure
Northwestern: Rejected
Rush: Fake Interview
Pritzker:Rejected

Oh my goodness, I started feeling so crappy when I saw that list, especially when I spotted one person that interviewed the same day as me. Of course, I'm still happy for everybody... but I want to go there really bad!!!

I know man, I loved that school. Here's my theory, after about a month when the pre-match people have a chance to decide, they will know how many spots they will have for oos students. This anxiety is horrible.

UIC: awaiting decision (interview mid-october)
Pritzker: pre-interview hold
Northwestern: ???
Loyola: Pre-interview hold
Rush: ???

that's because almost all of the schools are private...UIC gives heavy preference to in-staters, and rush does too (despite being private), but the rest do not give preference to in-staters. SIU does, but only if you're not from the Chicago area...those of us living in the northeast corner of the state are treated as out-of-staters in the SIU admissions process.

Loyola and Rush are both known for taking their time on making decisions to interview, though, so none of you are out of the game yet just because you're waiting to hear.

:luck:

I'd have to disagree about SIU. I'm from a Chicago 'burb and just got my acceptance letter yesterday. I'd always heard that if you live North of I-80 you might as well not apply, but somehow things worked out well for me... It's not like I have amazing stats or anything. I think the fact that I went to school in Nebraska may have convinced SIU that I'm down with the whole rural/small town thing...

straight acceptance or AWPA?

SIU: Interviewed early November, waiting to hear
Rosalind: ????
Loyola: Hold for further review
Northwestern: Rejected
Rush: ????
Pritzker: Interviewed, waiting to hear...

Pritzker, please love me back!!!
And what's up with Rosalind Franklin and Rush?

i definitely don't buy into the notion that northerners shouldn't apply, but according to the school's own web site, they favor southern and central illinois residents over chicagoland residents. i personally didn't apply because i didn't like the idea of moving after first year and didn't want to leave chicago anyways, but i certainly don't believe that no one from chicago gets in. i was only speaking to the fact that there aren't 4, 5, or more "state" schools for chicagoans as there are in some other states.

bump...although I doubt there's been much movement at these schools...

That makes me want an interview there even more that I already do! What kind of atmosphere is it? I had a chance to go there for undergrad, but turned it down so I could see the world...

The funny thing is...your information isn't really any different than mine, and I was complete in August/Early September, ha. Illinois schools have really blown this year...

Hi guys, I am going for an interview at University of Illinois college of medicine December 4th, and I was interested to know if anyone else has heard a yes from U of I, and also how long it took after your interview for you to hear back? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Everything was sent in for about two months before the website said I was complete. Also, I tried emailing them too, and they replied one month after I sent it saying not to worry about it...they're just REALLLLLLLY slow

UIC: Interview in January--FINALLY!

Yes, I just got the UIC interview invite on my status page, too! 😀
There are spots available in Rockford and Peoria. The first available date is Wednesday January 10th in Rockford. I was complete 10/6 by the way.

Rockford 1/10 afternoon session for me...

Peoria 1/18 for me... I'm starting to think maybe I shoulda scheduled earlier, but I live in peoria and saved $75 bucks on gas by not driving to Chicago. I may regret that decision in a month or 2 tho....

I had opennings at Chicago campus for the day AFTER my invite. 11/28. and a bunch in december. They musta filled up FAST.
