Anyone out there that has stats on the lower end and is applying to Medicine - have you received interview invitations from a lot of places?

I have low scores, no fails, amg. I've applied to 12 programs and only got 2 interviews so far. I'm a little worried now since it's mid-November. Anyone else in the same boat? Any advice from those who've been through the process?

I am with you, I have low scores but I do have many interviews (>15) and will have to be canceling quite a few of them. There is definitely more to an application than board scores. I think if you applied to the "right" programs you will be fine. That doesn't mean community programs either, that just means middle tier, solid programs. If you applied to all the big names, then maybe you should worry. 🙂

Well i have a low step 1 as well but i rocked with a 99 on step 2, passed CS and i also passed step 3 with an 86. I am an IMG. No failures either. I have 6 interviews so far and they were all before November 1.:luck:

I applied to 7 university programs, 5 community, all in the southeast.

scutmonkey08 - are you applying all over?

dkpwalker - how did u prepare for step 2? how long did you study? what was ur method?

thanks~

I took a month to prepare, i am already a practicing physician so step 2 comes more naturally for us. Step 1 was like so far removed, i did the material in med school like 8 - 10 years ago, yeeesh.... anyways, I also used USMLEworld from the outset and was scoring over 65.:luck:

low step 1 and 2CK scores here with a good number of top tier program interviews... i know, i was shocked too that they wanted to interview me. obviously your scores are not the end-all, be-all.
