I am a resident in the IM/Peds combined residency program at WSU/DMC and absolutely have no regrets of my choice of field nor location of my training.
The highlights are the residents...we are like a big family...the program director has placed an emphasis on carefully recruiting residents that fit within the context of the family. We have 2 conferences a week dedicated to Med/Peds topics...and it is a great time to hang out with each other. We also have a true combined Med/Peds clinic where only our residents and Med/Peds faculty supervise and teach.
Children's Hospital of Michigan is a free standing children's hospital where we do our pediatrics rotations. Detroit Receiving Hospital, Harper University Hospital and John Dingell VA Hospital serve a diverse population with a wealth of pathology.
