eh I know a couple people that get high on occasion in med school and they do well on everything. You just have to be smart enough to know when to not to do it!

LOL. Weed smoking is just as rampant in med school as in undergrad...actually probably more so.
Why not? If someone is dying, they should be able to get some relief, right?

I agree, but why not just use drugs like Marinol (synthetic THC) to get the same effects? Smoke = carcinogens, and I doubt all medical marijuana users can afford vaporizers.
you are not knowledgeable. there are tons of cannaboids in marijuana. each one has a unique effect, and THC alone does not cut it for many patients.
moreover, THC only gives you a head high. a body high (for pain relief and sleeping) happens mainly from cannabidiol (CBD).

Why should it be illegal in the first place? Because we are afraid of people making their own decisions?
As an FYI, marinol is only a synthesized form of thc while marijuana is a mixture of many compounds, including thc, many of which have medical benefits. Marinol is not as effective, in the aggregate, as marijuana, nor is it equivalent, so why let patients suffer? And while smoking may not be the most kosher form of drug ingestion, alternative methods ( vaping, eating) can be done with real marijuana and not with marinol.
Besides. Pot is cheap. Marinol is expensive. Why should patients pay more for a less effective medicine.
There's no shortage of harder drugs either... especially in the first two years before drug testing kicks in.

I was just asking, I didn't want to argue. That's interesting though, and sorry, I don't have any experience buying vaporizers, but I bet most patients would rather save the 40 bucks (I guess if you're terminal the effects of the smoke are irrelevant anyway.)
I don't want to start a legalization debate, but personally I think tobacco should be illegal as well if marijuana is. If neither is illegal, at least that's fair (sort of.) The argument for marijuana being illegal is that it's more harmful/addictive than legal substances, but many would argue it doesn't belong with the likes of cocaine and LSD, and that it's no more harmful or addictive than cigarettes.
Doctors should at least advise patients on how to ingest it, then.

actually, good pot is NOT cheap. it would be if it were legal, which it should be.
and vaporizers are cheap.....less expensive than a good, but very small, bag of pot.

That's why I said "if marijuana is illegal." Prohibition was tried before and failed, and similarly it is far more likely that marijuana will become legalized than cigarettes and other tobacco products will be outlawed. My point is that making tobacco and marijuana illegal would fail in the same way the prohibition movement did, but having only one of them outlawed doesn't make sense. I'm more indirectly saying that marijuana should be legalized on the grounds that tobacco is.

I doubt legalization will cause a large drop in price. The first thing the governaut will do is tax the hell out of it.

$50 for 3.5 grams would be pretty expensive. Ciggs are already taxed the hell out of and they only run $4-6/pack.
I smoked often during my sophomore year (read: 3-4 times a week during the semester). My grades didn't suffer, so I am in agreement that it is all about when you do it [i.e. not before an exam].
However, in retrospect, it really was just a waste of time - time filled with goofy laughter, pseudo-profound thoughts, and empty calories.
Nevertheless, I would do the same if I had to do it all over again... Butterfly effect maaaan, psssft, that shyt is deep man. Like everything would change if anything had changed before. *cough cough cough* Forrealz. lolz, dude pass the doritos. omg these doritos are effin amazing and i cant even taste them lolzzz

I read on EPmonthly that the synthetic THC gives the EPs problems because pt.s have seizures and actually OD on the stuff.

From experience, on alcohol you might be too stubborn or too obstinate to have an intellectual conversation, and on weed you are drifting in your own thoughts to care much about what the other person is saying. Even on shrooms or acid, it may seem intellectual and profound at the moment of being high, but in retrospect you have a feeling of remembering thoughts that might have been life changing but either cant understand while sober, put into words or apply to real life.
Thats all based on teenage recreational use... maybe a couple of the above drugs could be more productive if taken in a more mature state of mind.
