The worst thing that could happen to someone happened to me. After take a test and 2 quizzes in one day I walk to the parking garage to find my car stolen. UNLV cop said 40 cars were stolen on cmpus last year, and UNLV does nothing to curb the theft then to have fuzzy video of someone driving off in my car. IM SO SAD...I miss my baby....

so do you recommend your fellow pre-dents not to apply to UNLV dental school. B/c its a bad place. Right at the beginning of the admission cycle.

To the OP: 😱 I would be devastated if someone stole my car "Carlos"! I would probably judo-chop the very ground where it sat in anger and rage!

Are you a dental student at UNLV? If not, why were you there?
This post is not gonna stop others from applying to UNLV and it will not land you an interview there.
 
Def. not trying to rub salt in the wound but... do you really think car theft is the worst thing that can happen to someone???? 🙁

Guess I shouldn't get a car or anything expensive if I'm studying there. Sorry for your loss. Keep checking classifieds and kijiji! Maybe the culprit will try to sell it! Oh, and make sure you've got a police report.
 
yeah the first thing i did was report it as stolen....ill miss that f******g badass ride.

im not in dental school...im a undergrad...

the d-school is in a different location but still in a hood area like the main campus is...what happened to me is a 1 out 40 out of 20000 students. so i hope it doesnt happen to anybody anywhere. it is a really ****ty/violating feeling.

I would never say to not go to UNLV, but i am dissapointed in the fact that i pay alot of money out of my pocket to go to school and they cant even protect the students and their valuables.
 
Sorry to hear. My first reaction to some of the other posters was "wtf, you people are cold!", but then I think about it a bit more... more gently put: what does this post have to do with pre-dental and dental school in general? It's also interesting that you point out the dental school being in a different location altogether, hmm.

Not getting into dental school is by far the worst thing that could ever happen to someone..if it's not, then you're obviously not passionate enough about dentistry. Your story is lame.

Ok, fine, I take back the lame comment, but I definitely stand by the passion part. At least for me, I can move on from a stolen car, family/friends dying, signficant others divorcing, etc., ..but I will legit end up dead if I don't get into dental school.

Sooo..... if you were married, you would rather go to dental school and get a divorce than stay married and not go to dental school? 😏

Dedciation is great, and I'm glad you are really passionate about dentistry, but this is a dangerous attitude. Do not EVER tell an adcom the things you posted above (minus the stolen car which is just a material possession, so I'll agree with you on that one) In addition, if you really feel this way, you should reevaluate your priorities.

100% get a divorce. We're talking about dreams here: my dream is dental school, not finding the love of my life. If I can have both, then that's great. For many, love comes first...absolutely not the case with me.

@Predoctalk - of course, I would never say those things to an admissions committee. I'll definitely play down the do-or-die (no pun intended) attitude with them.

Sorry if I came off suicidal. I don't think I'd ever kill myself over dental school, but I would definitely turn to hardcore drugs or something. Not getting into dental school this cycle would be rock bottom.
