Ok can somebody elaborate on the Casper Test thing? I have received two requests/suggestions to take the test from programs.

Non-US IMG. YOG 2016.
Step 1/2 CK: 259/257
No USCEs
4 years home country residency
3 publications
ECFMG certification still pending. All requirement fulfilled.

ZERO invites so far.

Considering the relatively accelerated schedule with which the PDs will be working with this year, I was wondering whether waiting till mid-November to begin reaching out to programs might be too late. Thoughts?

Yeah me too. I've already reserved my spot for the test. I figure these programs will use these tests alongside our other performance metrics to make a more 'informed decision'. Seems to be a basic personality test sorta thing, like one of those trivia quizzes that judge what type of human being you are but standardized I guess, what do I know?
I guess go for it, just be yourself

YOG 2019.
USCE 14 MONTHS
STEP 1 202, STEP 2 214 CS PASS STEP 3 211 ALL FIRST ATTEMPTS
NON US IMG

Not the best scores, but keeping my fingers crossed. Best of luck to each and everyone of you !

I booked my spot for Casper test as well. Just not looking forward to another “test” in this process!

So far, on the website, i only see two IM programs that use this. And one of them is optional. Seems like an ethics type of thing, answer as you would act in real life i guess.

did you pass it? I/FMGs are required to have passed scores on 1, CK,and CS to participate in the Match...if you do not have by ROL time, you will be will be automatically withdrawn.
And CS takes a while to report...if you don’t take it before December, it won’t be back in time.

There is no CS anymore for a while. It was cancelled starting from March 2020 (due to COVID ofcourse) until atleast summer 2021. ECFMG have come up with 5 alternate pathways through which applicants can get ecfmg certificate this year without CS.

While I’m on the side of things (took CS a couple of years ago cuz I’m an older graduate), I know a large number of applicants this year, AMGs and IMGs/FMGs both, are going in the match without CS this year. For FMGs/IMGs, if they are able to get ecfmg certificate through one of those 5 pathways, they’re good. I’m not going to go into the details of those pathways cuz it’s a long story!

Hey, I have similar stats scores wise. Except that I’m an older grad, 2013, and have a green card. I haven’t done step 3 yet either.

If you don’t mind me asking, what do you think went wrong last year? Did you apply broadly covering all the lowest tier community programs? Did you get any interviews at all? Thanks

I think with my stats, I should have applied to more mid to lower tier programs (Something that I have tried to address this time around).
I did get 3 IVs - and all three actually went pretty well. but then trying to match with 3 IVs can get extremely dicey.

Ooh how many more did you apply this year and how many overall? I also kinda have similar stats

Understandably covid had made changes to that, but , unfortunately, there is a difference between not having the opportunity to take CS and having failed CS...can’t say how programs will look at that and not sure what the new rules will be about Match eligibility will be now for F/IMGs ..it could be just I and CK? Has NRMP said anything yet?

Yes, for NRMP, as long as you’re ECFMG certified (through one of those 5 pathways), you’re good. For this match cycle only you don’t need CS to be ECFMG certified. You only need Step 1, 2 CK, an English language test OET and eligibility through one of those pathways. But the ECFMG certificate that people will be getting through these pathways (i.e. without CS) will be valid only if you end up matching. If you somehow don’t match in this cycle, the certificate will be nullified and for the next match cycle (Match 2022), you’ll have to take CS next year (if they bring some form of CS back by mid-late next year or whatever alternative they bring).
I am not sure how individual programs will look at things though. Since these things are so variable and highly subjective.

Unfortunately, I agree that it’s not the best situation to be in for people who have a failed CS attempt and didn’t get a chance to retake the exam. But I wish them luck, may the odds be in their favor. Maybe they can work on other aspects of their application to prove their qualities/communication skills.

Congrats, Champ!

Is it the Omaha program or the Phoenix program?
Thank you so much!!!!! Phoenix program 🙂 I got 2 IV FM (NYMC- St Josephs, and SIU-Decatur), 1 combined IM-peds (Hurley/MSU) and this is my first IM IV. Congrats to all who are getting IVs. For those who haven't, do not worry, they are coming in. I hope we all get matched!!!!

So I just realized that I haven't assigned my transcript or my LORs to around 20 programs before I submitted them. Just finished rectifying my enormous blunder. How screwed am I? Should I email these programs?

No one can give a definite answer to that but it definitely does not help. Email them (20 programs) and inform them about the assignment

Yeah I did. GOD I can't believe I was so stupid. FIngers crossed I guess

Don't get discouraged. It's still super super early into the cycle (less than a week). Based on previous cycles, it usually takes a month for most applicants to receive flood of IVs (Oct, Nov). So this year maybe Nov and Dec are when most invites will be sent out.

Absolutely right. Due to the shortened interview cycle along with surging covid cases (admissions) the uncertainty is high.
