Hi,

I am taking Advanced Microbio, Physiology, and Immunology for this semester but I am thinking of dropping Immunology class unless this class is crucial.

The reason being... my DS interviews have been scheduled mostly on fridays' which means I have to miss every friday of my immunology lecture. I addressed this concern to my current Immunology Professor and he strongly recommended I drop this class (he made a point that missing that many lectures/quizzes, the highest grade that I can get is B, and he made it clear that no make up quizzes will be given under any excuses) unless dental schools require this course.

This class is really interesting, and now I haven't taken many upper biology class I feel like taking as many as upper bio classes is very important.

Should I drop the class? I basically should NOT take a class that I can't even get an A in. Right?

How helpful Immunology is for dental curriculum? It's often listed as recommended class, but not to the same extent as Micro/Physio/Anatomy

Please help me.

Thanks,

It is "Recommended" It is not required. So you can take it but getting anything lower than B+ at this point might not be helpful, but wouldn't hurt.
Ask around. see if the class is difficult and requires you to attend most of lectures to get a "decent" grade in that class.
I would take Prof's advice and drop it and take some other science courses that requires less attention.

you'd be busy going to interviews and also being last year and all, you might find it difficult to concentrate as you did in previous years.

Best of Luck!

Immunology, overall, is tough. If you're going to be missing a bunch of lectures, I would do as your prof suggests. It is not easy to catch up on things you missed, especially in immunology.

I doubt it's relevant to a great amount of material in dental school...then again, i wouldn't know. i've seen cell biology in dental school curriculum pages but not immuno...

Not the end of the world if you drop though...I think I would if I had several interviews that would cause me to miss a substantial amount of time from school.

Good luck!

immuno is the most hectic class. dont overload other classes with it.. i had to drop when i did that haha

I feel like Immuno is more helpful than Cell Bio for dental school?

i took FOUNDATIONS OF IMMUNOLOGY course online over the summer

will taking it online hurt ? its only offered online at my univ.
