Impact of pass/fail courses on application for electives/non pre-med related courses

Hi all,

I took a second degree program in CS at an online university several years back, but withdrew once I realized that it wasn’t for me. Thing is, on my transcript, it says NP/Not passed for four courses. They’re not really pre-med related (however, one course was discrete math, and the other was calculus I. The other two were IT-based). I’m wondering how this would look to adcoms. I know that P/F courses aren’t counted in the AMCAS gpa. I took Calc I and II in college and already passed. This online program made me retake it.

Any response or feedback is welcome. Thanks.

You shouldnt have a problem with one or two pass/fail courses on your transcript. Programs get concerned when you have multiple withdrawals that show a trend. A few discrete withdrawals should not impact your application.
