Have you ever encountered a case where someone was admitted to Harvard but turned down at JHU, or vice versa?
Nope, but I met a guy once who was embraced by Christianity but totally got rejected from Buddhism.

i needed a good laugh before i went to work.

BEST reply EVER.......funniest thing I've heard all day

first md/phd admissions, now harvard and jhu. what are you trying to do, find the easiest way to get an ego boost?

an acquaintance of mine was accepted to harvard but wasnt even offered an interview at emory

I was acepted to Drexel, but wasn't even given an interview for Finch?

(Post was made with tongue firmly implanted into cheek)

my sister's friend, who is an md/phd at hopkins, was telling me that there are ppl in her class who didn't get into their STATE schools. (most likely from cali I imagine...)

I met a kid at an interview who was a Michigan resident and had an interview at the University of Michigan but had been rejected pre-secondary at Michigan State. And this was in October!

I think there are actually a fair number of cases where "safety" applicants are rejected by schools for which their numbers far exceed the norm. The schools can thereby boost their accepance and yield rates.

Yeah, I know. If he were a non-resident, it wouldn't have surprised me at all, since those rejections I think are based on the idea that the student probably wouldn't matriculate there. But an in-state person? And MSU has a very different thrust than UM, so I was just surprised when he told me about it.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your avatar and is there a wide selection I can browse? 👍

I assume you were referring to mine? 😀 Honestly have no recollection where I found it. I did a google search earlier today for "custom avatars" and clicked on a random link to some techie forum. I actually stole it from someone, ha ha.

That happened to me too. I was accepted by Michigan and got put on hold PRE-secondary at MSU and then was eventually rejected months later...

Well, sure. JHU has to make sure that some moderatly qualified people go to harvard.

Hm.. I frequently hear people making cases for certain HMS students not being so qualified, but not really about JHU students. Does that mean more people are jealous of those going to HMS? Or is there any truth to those cases?

"custom avatars" just became the #1 search on Google.

This is one of the worst threads I have ever seen on SDN, including the proliferation of "I just submitted my AMCAS" mini-accomplishment celebrations. If the original question was serious, then the original poster is stupid, why do we humor this type of post by continuing to post (yes, I see the irony, but it is unavoidable).

While this may not make you think .... since we are telling stories, I will tell you mine.

I know someone who got into VCU but was rejected by HMS .... 🙄
