Hi,
I'm planning to apply this year, so i could get in next year. I'm really confused about which schools to apply to. Do you know of any schools which are relatively easier to get in, so I don't end up applying to all the tough ones minimizing my chances of getting in. Also, how many schools do people usually apply to? If any of you would be nice enough to help me with some advices, I'd really appreciate it.
This network is a great help, I'm so glad I came to know about it a few days ago. Responses from you guys are very motivating and encouraging.
Thanks and good luck to you all with dental school : )

Hey, It all depends on your grades and DAT scores. I feel it is necessary to apply to some private schools and also some state schools. The private schools have high tuition and are usually a bit easier to get into. You should definitely apply to your home states dental school(s). Also apply to a few other state schools which have in past years taken out of staters. Some of the private schools that I think are a good choice are Tufts, BU, NYU, Nova, UNLV and Arizona. Columbia, Upenn, UCLA, USC are a bit more competitive to get into. You need to pick a mix that is suitable for your needs. I would recommend applying to 8-12 schools. These are just my opinions though.

ensure that you apply to a broad range of schools. You can easily underestimate or overestimate your potential. Capture your perfect fit by increasing your range. I applied to seven schools, I believe you should probably apply to no more than ten schools, save money by doing extra research on each school( curriculum, cost, admission philosophy) I applied to seven schools ranging from Harvard to Howard, I got into all seven. I may not be the smartest person on earth but I utilized a smart approach, mind you also a very late application (October 22)

Purchase the ADEA's Official Guide to Dental Schools. It has detailed info for every school. Price is $40. First try your Health Professions Office and see if they have one you can check out. Otherwise it is a must buy.

hey there, I am in the same boat as you. I am planning on applying this summer and I'm thinking of applying to if not all, but the majority of the private institutions and maybe some international. Just because the public ones have preference for their own state. Purchasing that ADEA guide to dental school is VERY helpful. Hiow about you? what is your first choice? If you want more information of my status on applying you can email me. [email protected]
