So, I changed my major 2nd semester of sophomore year and am now bio(premed). My gpa is pretty low (3.1). I mean what are my chances of getting at least a 3.5 or higher? I'm not even a good test taker so I'm not sure how confident I can say I'll get an amazing mcat score. Even with tons of extracurriculars, how ideal is it for me to to consider med school?

Thanks for any and all the advice.

Well, going in with an attitude like "Is it worth it?" means that you probably won't last in medicine.

Becoming a doctor--or just getting into medical school--is a process by which you get chewed up and spit back out. There are long study nights, exorbitant amounts of money to shell out for applications, and looking toward a test that determines your future in some way, shape, or form. When you finally GET to medical school, it's more of the same--way too much information than one can possibly remember, 6 or 7 days of studying, all day and every week, and more tests that determine your future.

Everyone endures this. But, the successful candidates do it because they don't HAVE to question whether or not it's worth it. And, they'd do it all again and again to become a doctor.

So, the fact that you're just a sophomore and asking this does not bode well...

Thanks for the reminder; I needed that. but I mean how realistic is it that I can bring my gpa that high in just 2 yrs with upper level bio courses? (im a junior now...) because everyone has limitations.. don't get me wrong I'm going to give it all I got and see where I go from there. I just wanted to lay out my options realistically.

I you're already a junior and you get all A's, you can get closer to a 3.5, but you made need some post baccalaureate work afterwards.
