No dress code for day to day activities, but there is some conferences and seminars that business casual is required.Random question to those who have completed the program or are current students. Is there a dress code? For example, UIW has a dress code (business causal or scrubs only). I just want to make sure I can plan accordingly.
I submitted my app on 2/27, it was verified on 2/29 and noted as received by UNTHSC on 3/1.How long did it take yall to go from verified to received?
It has a difficult curriculum or it’s difficult to get into? I haven’t heard very much about this program, is it new?Tamu has an amazing program!!! It’s very difficult but 100% worth it. It is a 2 year program though

I may look into it, thanks! I unfortunately didn’t get accepted to this program so I need to check out other programs…It’s much smaller than this program. I believe they only have about 20ish students and it is for sure a rigorous curriculum from what I’ve heard from my classmates that went on to take it.
hi! i’m applying to the a&m program right now. they have a thesis (research) & non thesis (no research) trackI may look into it, thanks! I unfortunately didn’t get accepted to this program so I need to check out other programs…
Do you know if the A&M program is research based or if an interest in research is needed?
Nope, still waitingHi! Has anyone heard back?
I just called admissions. They're running behind and are meeting today. Autumn said we should hear back next week.Nope, still waiting
my app still says "under review". I saw last year some people heard back tue-fri. The wait continues.....Anybody hear any updates today? Looks like they usually send out decisions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Sounds about right. I just checked the current class enrollment. It looks like it's at 62 right now for the application workshop class (which I think is only offered in the summer to MedSci). The last time I checked a couple of days ago, it was at 58.Wait, y'all, the FB group yesterday said 54 members, and now today it's up to 58.......
I saw last year they planned for around 100. When I spoke to admissions two months ago they said around 120, but they've had fewer applications come in this year so id say around 100 is prob accurateSounds about right. I've seen people from previous cohorts mention anywhere from 100-150 spots in each cohort. Does anybody know how big of a cohort they are planning for this year?
facebook.com/groups/hscsbsentering2024Where are y'all finding the groups? I cant seem to find them on FB.
Thank youfacebook.com/groups/hscsbsentering2024

Congrats! Can I ask when you applied?ACCEPTED! just got the email this morning!
I submitted march 31 and it was processed on April 3Congrats! Can I ask when you applied?
I got processed in mid April, hopefully don't have to wait much longer then.I submitted march 31 and it was processed on April 3
They accept all the way thru Friday, I've seen. All the positive vibes!I got processed in mid April, hopefully don't have to wait much longer then.
I wouldn't stress too too much because I think the way they review is the earlier you submit, the earlier you get a response. So if you submitted later (like mid April) they probably haven't gotten a chance to review your app yet.Ngl Im getting scared because I haven’t gotten an email yet but I think I’m a great candidate so maybe it’s because I submitted later in line lol.
Cohorts have been as big as 200 students in previous years, and our cohort this past year started at 144. From what we've heard (and take this with a grain of salt) they have every intention of accepting a similar sized cohort this year. However, more and more of these SMP programs open up, and many are online (UNTHSC has their own online program), and the applicant pool and eventual class might get smaller as a result of this.Sounds about right. I just finished this program a few days ago. I totally get how anxious you are to start. I did this program to improve my GPA, so my advice will be biased towards this goal. At orientation, you're going to hear a lot of noise about what people did to study, some will swear by Anki others will swear by practice questions. You'll hear from the orientation leads and admin which classes they think are the most difficult, don't be overwhelmed and know that just because someone else said it, doesn't make it true for you. That being said, my review of the program is as follows:Guys, I forgot to update that I got the A!! Ngl I’m just rlly nervous abt doing well, I don’t know what to expect at all. Any advice if familiar with cohort?? How do you even study for this program? Also good luck to everyone that applied wishing you all the very best, you got it!!!

The year is going to fly by, especially if you are applying to med/dental school this cycle. Have fun when you can, and make some friends while you're here! Best of luck!
- The fall was more difficult than the spring, I don't know if it's the adjustment, or the rather abstract content in the fall, or what.
- For me, Anki was not a one-stop-shop for studying. Useful at times, I used it for Histology and did well, but not much else. I did not have a strong science background, and struggled gleaming the big picture, so focusing on rote memorization of small details through Anki was exceedingly difficult. If you have a solid science background, you might find it effective.
- I did not go to in person lecture. Also, the recorded lectures are your #1 biggest resource for studying. The professors do not want you to fail, they all do it in their own ways, but they will emphasize about 95% of what ends up on the quizzes and exams. I would watch a lecture 2-3x on 2x speed. I would use good notes to make digital flashcards of things that were super impt, easy to forget, etc. not to exceed 60 new cards per lecture. Your goal should be to condense the content as much as possible.
- If something is not in the lecture, it CANNOT be the correct answer on the exam. I learned this the hard way, but sometimes a question is phrased oddly, or the answer didn't totally make sense, and there was another random answer I didn't recognize but assumed it could be true.
- Generally, an equal amount of questions are pulled from each lecture for the exam, usually 4. So do not spend all your time on 1 long and difficult lecture at the expense of the other ones. They are making changes to the fall classes so this may not be true for you guys, but this was very noticeable for the first mol. cell exam.
- Something I wish I knew a year ago is a site called lucid chart, it's a paid subscription (like $8 a month) to make these rather sophisticated diagrams. Being able to put the concepts from all the lectures and connect them is such a good study technique. You could draw them out, but this was a quicker way to do it.
- I don't want to put my exact GPA out there because you're goal GPA may fall above or below it, and you shouldn't compare. But for reference on how to take my studying advice, I ended up with somewhere between a 3.7-3.9. So I felt I did solid, but had some room for improvement. But everyone has a different personal best.
- The school has amazing tutors, use them!
I got an email today saying they are still processing award info for 2024-2025 and that they typically send out awards in mid-May. They should send out emails once everything is processed.Has anybody heard anything about when financial aid comes in?
