Okay, so I just took the July 2 MCAT.

This is my 4th time taking the MCAT
2012: 8P/7V/12BS
2013: 10P/7V/11BS
12P/7V/9BS
July 2, 2014: 11P/4V/11BS

The sciences were about my practice averages but this verbal... makes no sense.
Was averaging a 12PS, 9.3VR and 12BS going into this exam.

I dont know what happened... I dont even recall a single passage from this verbal section.
I know this 4 is going to be a red flag but at the same time, I know it is a HUGE FLUKE (ex/ look at my past verbal scores as a base).
I studied for Verbal more than the other two sections for this exam and I am pretty devastated.
Right now I am verified for both MD and DO schools and I'm not sure what to do.

Should I retake ASAP and prove that this verbal was a fluke? Or should I just go ahead and apply and hope they consider my previous verbal scores?

I have a 31, if I take the best scores from subsections.. but this 4 certainly stands out...
I would greatly appreciate all your responses and inputs.
I know people have asked a similar question before, but keep in mind this is my 4th time taking the MCAT and this is a DRASTIC drop for my VR.
Thanks

Retake ASAP. A good chunk of school will look at your most recent scores and that verbal will auto screen you from even DO schools.

Do you guys think its a good idea to submit my secondaries first and retake or retake, wait for score and then submit?

I think you have a chance of getting in, especially the DO schools. Since it's your 4th time taking the MCAT, make sure you apply early and broadly! I think 5 times is excessive (but I do have to admit that I'm not sure if there's an option of only submitting 1 MCAT application, like there is for the GRE's now). If the rules are still the same (aka send all scores), I'd go ahead and apply as long as you are super early and apply broadly.

Retake. But 4 attempts does bother me, that 4V might give you a very small chance in getting anywhere this year. Maybe get a verbal reasoning tutor and retake the exam in the upcoming month?

I received a 4 on my verbal during the April 2014 exam on my second MCAT attempt (after an 8 the first time), and then retook and received a 10 on the July 2nd MCAT you took. Definitely retake because it is most likely a fluke/bad luck. Go into your retake cool, calm, and collected and think that you can't do any worse than that 4 in verbal. And focus all your attention on verbal because your sciences look really strong.

Of course, 5 attempts will look bad. But a 4 on your most recent attempt looks far worse. Give it your all!
