I have an interview next week and am curious. It is my third interview and almost equally tied as my top choice. I have already interviewed at my other top choice and loved it. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but I will inevitably be comparing the two schools during my interview.
I have some questions already that I will use to compare the two schools.

My question is this:
Is it taboo to bring up another school during the interview?

Also, I have it on good authority that they will ask me something like: 'what will you do if you dont get accepted to dental school?' (I have interviewed there previously and they asked me that question). I have already been accepted to another school, so what could my answer be to a question like that, if it isn't appropriate?

I don't know about other schools but if asked I would answer truthfully as needed. As for the question, I always say that I'll keep applying until I'm accepted.

I wouldn't bring up another school. It might not be the end of the world, but it's one of those things that has no upside but a potential downside, so why risk it.

As for the "what would you do if you weren't accepted" question, I think it's more hypothetical. So you could say you would try to improve your GPA, DAT, whatever you think is weak in your app and reapply next year. That's what I would do at least, no one can tell you the right answer.

+1

OP:
If they ask, say you are always looking at the pros and cons of each school, and that you are really enjoying your time getting to know ___________ school. 🙂

Right on. I guess i'll save some of those hardball questions for after I get accepted, if that happens. 🙂

In my opinion, I don't think it would hurt you to say where you have your deposit at only if they ask you. Don't brag about it as you are telling.

They already know that Dec.1st has passed and many people are already accepted to dental schools. When the question was asked to me, I told them where I was accepted to, what schools I have declined and schools where I had deposits at.

At the end of the interview, once they asked me whether I had any question, I asked them to give me "three reasons why I have to pick this dental school over others I have been accepted to". They looked a little shocked, but started to tell me reasons why I need to pick that dental school lol. It might sounded a little cocky, but I had that serious face on. (They also know you are serious because you came to their interview although you already have an acceptance) My interviewers then said I was the first one to ask that type of question. I don't know whether he said in a good way or bad way, but I still got into that dental school.

Bottom line is.... it really depends how you say it. Don't lie, tell them facts with CONFIDENCE. 🙂
Lead the conversation! I bet you are pro at it since you already got into two schools.

Good luck. I think you will do well. 🙂

Which school is this by the way?

At my Tufts interview, my two interviewers (both BU grads) spent a good 50% of the interview discussing the rumors on SDN about BU and how they weren't true. We also talked about their grad departments. It was odd...

They actually trapped me though, they asked me to discuss all the bad things I had heard, and then revealed they went there. I got accepted, so it wasn't a big deal, but it was extremely awkward in the moment.

I wouldn't say that because you are drawing negative thoughts to your app. I would say, "I would call admissions committee not necessarily asking them why didn't I get in, rather what can I do to improve for next cycle."

I've only been accepted to one so far. Waiting to hear back from the other (which is my other top choice). 👍

Your answer to the 'what will you do if you dont get accepted' question is kind of the mindset i had. Although I wont be quite so open about it, I've decided that I wont pussyfoot around it. I see no reason to hide the fact that I have been accepted somewhere else. The fact that I'll give them preference over the other school I am currently accepted to (which is true), even gives me an opportunity to affirm my interest. If they want me...come and get me. :meanie:

As far as school specific questions, perhaps I'll show more prudence and keep my questions less direct and school specific until it comes time to actually make the decision. I really do want to ask them what the benefit of going to their school specifically in relation to another one would be though. I personally don't see what is wrong with opening dialogue about it. Perhaps, I will learn a benefit that I didnt know about. I thought bringing it up during an interview might be a good place to do it because there will be multiple faculty (including dean of admissions I believe) and students at one place and one time.
