Does anyone know of a good Infectious Disease program for the iPhone? I had epocrates essentials, but I hate spending $150 just for the ID part of it because the other not-free stuff you get with the essentials is pretty much worthless. I've seen an Abx app that goes with skyscape, but cant decide if I want to drop the $20 for a 1yr subscription to see if it is at least equal with essentials ID part.

Also, if any of you have used the skyscape thing, have you tried any of the emergency medicine additions you can get with it?

Thanks in advance.

I assume the Skyscape thing you mention is the Hopkins Abx Guide. If so...although it was free up until last year (and still is free online) it is definitely worth $20. Well referenced and very up to date.

Thanks! I guess I'll give it a shot then, it's $21.95 for a 1yr subscription for the Hopkins Abx thing through skyscape now. I guess it's free to look it up online, but I wanted something PDA based because of the poor reception in our ED.

Also, might as well mention in case someone else looks at this looking for an ID program too, I contacted Sanford Guide to see if they would be coming out with something before I spent my $ on something else. I accidentally emailed 2 different departments (well the first one was tech support which I didn't realize until after I sent the email) and got 2 replies today. I guess it is a good thing I did because both said yes, they are working on an app, but both had different time frames. Here are those emails:

"Our iPhone version is currently under development, it's release date is for 2010.Further information will follow and be posted back on our website as we progress.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Regards,"

and the other:

"We are currently developing programs for the iPhone. We anticipate that this support will be available very shortly. The first application should be available later this summer.

Please let us know if you require any additional assistance.

Best Regards,"

So, either later this summer or 2010 it should be available... Anyway, I just purchased the Hopkins Abx for $21 and it seems like it will do even better than epocrates (it gives lots of references unlike epocrates which gives... none) which saved me $130.
