i was not sure in which forum i should ask this so i posted it here..
can you please tell me that is there any fees that one needs to pay to the college while doing residency in US?

It depends on the university and it depends on whether you are at a LCME or International medical school. It should say on the med school's visiting students website.

i am a foreign medical student...i searched on websites of some colleges but didnt get anythin...whats the average annual fee like?

The few that I have seen range in between $2500 per week to about $1600 per week, prepaid.

so basically u give them around 7000-8000$ per month and earn back nearly 4000$ per month?
can u give me the links of some websites plz?

You don't earn anything. You are paying for an education. There is no salary.

He's asking about residency, not medical school guys. As far as I know, there are no regular fees that you all have to pay...i'm not sure if they charge you anything for the visa paperwork. I have heard occasionally the salary is a little different, not sure why.

If you're not familiar with the US system then you need to catch up quickly.

Residency => after you graduate and you get paid 30k-50k per year depending. You don't pay anything to anyone for residency. Many hospitals are not affiliated with universities so your question did not make any sense.

ok thx...well i wasn't very sure bout the fee thing...thats why i asked

Sometimes if its University affiliated you may have to pay a small fee to the university. But that may be included in the residency package. Small fee could be 300$ or so per year. So you have access to university stuff. Not everywhere.. but its possible. I imagine this would be taken care of by the program / ie. hospital that pays your insurance etc...

First, residency is not affiliated with a "college", it's generally hospital based. The hospital may or may not be affiliated with a university system, but you won't really be. Second, you receive a stipend from the residency which is your "salary", although it's not called that because they have fewer obligations to you if you are a trainee and not an employee. Third, you are never asked to pay anything in residency, other than your time, sweat and tears, except perhaps for Step 3 and various specialty boards if nonessential to the residency. Most programs will cover various other costs and educational programs and most often even give you reimbursement for books and subscriptions you may feel you need, and will send you to specialty meetings/conventions if you have a poster/presentation. Fourth, this is totally the wrong board to ask this question -- it belongs in the general residency board, IMHO. The Step I board is for questions about (surprise surprise) Step 1.
