Okay, so im thinking about setting it up for my personal LORs to the other half of my schools I plan on hopefully receiving an invite for ...

I notice Interfolio costs $15 to set up account.

Does it cost more $$ to deliver the LORs or is that included?? If it costs money, how much is it? Do they charge PER LOR or PER school?

Do any of you suggest I use it??

Thanks and need advice ASAP!

Dr. Inviz

Also ... is it possible to send LORs as an attachment to the schools via email?? Will they allow that?? I'd much rather have my recommenders do that than for me to pay all that for Interfolio ...

However, I still would like to know how the pricing and such works for interfolio.

Thanks,
Dr. Inviz

Is it not common for colleges to have a letter service?

My school sent the first 10 letters for free, and the rest I just had to bring stamps for.

no, not for my school. they didnt tell us anything about interfolio either.

anyone that can help???

Sorry, I'm not sure, my letter writers just had to mail the letters to my school.

Goodluck.

Does the FAQ on the interfolio site not help you?

I am planning on using interfolio, but I cannot answer your question

hi guys. i can answer!

interfolio does cost $15 just to start it up. they will hold up to 100 letters i think for that price. your letter writers can email, fax or send their letters in.

it then costs $5 to send all your letters to each school. so if you are sending to alot of schools, i guess it could get pricey, but i think it is worth it. you don't have to worry about anything, you will get an email from interfolio as soon as they recieve the letter from your writer.

and when you request a send out (to your school), you can pick how its sent (regular mail, express, etc), and see exactly when it gets sent out. plus the school will get your letters all together.

sorry if this is confusing, feel free to ask any other questions or PM me 😉

Thanks Sasha for the help!

I also use Interfolio, in spite of the fact that my school also has such service, in order to store and selectively send LORs from my employer. Both my boss and director of my department wrote me letters, then I gave them a pre-printed form from Interfolio, which contained the instructions for faxing or mailing the document to the service. When they were received by Interfolio, I was updated by email. As I elected to keep the info confidential, I can't see the actual text of the document, but you decide beforehand whether or not to waive the right to view your letters.

I used the service recently, as both UNECOM and OHSU wanted supplemental non-academic letters. After making my request (and paying my $5!) they quickly sent the letters out. Every easy.

ditto for me. my school had a service, but i had heard horror stories of letters being mailed out very late, so i wanted control over the sending. i have my letters from professors, physicians and employers all on file at interfolio.

The issue with my school wasn't them sending them out late, they'll send em the day you tell them too. Getting them filed when they are mailed is a different story, but if you send them priority they will put them on file as soon as they receive them.

Interfolio's great for organizing your LORs. Just have your recommenders send in the letter once to Interfolio and you never have to ask them to send out letters again (since you have control over your LORs from that point on). I'd recommend waiving the right to see your LORs.

As for cost, it's $5 for snail mail, and I think $2 or $3 if the school accepts electronic transfers. I applied to both MD and DO schools - Most of the MD schools were able to receive the LORs electronically from Interfolio, while all of the DO schools received the LORs by snail mail.

Good luck!:luck:
