Hey I was wondering if anyone knows how it works for international medical graduates when they return home and want to find internship positions...

Is this near impossible?
are there tests that need to be written before you can start internship rotations?

I am a Canadian citizen, so would that prohibit me from getting internship positions in US?

I would appreciate help with this matter :)

This website has information from a Canadian citizen who went to a Caribbean school:

Here is another website that may be useful:

Maybe, someone else has more information for you.
It seems as if it is possible for Canadian citizens to apply for residency in the US. Have you taken the USMLE?

I cannot comment on the difficulties of foreign-trained Canadians obtaining training positions in their homeland, except that I know it to be rather hard to do but that loopholes do exist.

As for training in the US, Canadian citizens are no more prohibited from obtaining internships in the US than are any other non-citizen. In general you will be less preferred than a US citizen, but within reason: a stellar applicant will almost always be preferred regardless of citizenship over a mediocre US grad (some programs are exceptions; those which almost never take IMGs or non-citizens). There are many Canadians training in the US - we even have a couple of Canucks here! :D

Best of luck to you.
