Hi guys!

I'm not sure if you guys are having the same difficulty but I'm looking for something bigger to put on my application. I feel as though my observation hours at local clinics aren't enough and I need a solid internship or program to include as an experience.

Do you guys know of any big camps or internships for the summer or even winter break? What valuable experiences besides observation hours are you guys doing?

Thanks pre-PT fam 🙂

Unfortunately, it might be an issue in Colorado. There's a law there that says interns must have worker's comp insurance. The law also says that if an intern is paid the internship site must pay it. If it's unpaid the school must pay for it. My school was in Missouri, where the laws are apparently different and the school didn't want to foot the bill. I went back and forth between the site and school for months before the site agreed to foot the bill. I had some connections on the hospital's board, which I think helped my cause. It was a huge headache, but in the end everything worked out and the internship was great.

With that being said, if I were you I would check with your school's internship office to see if there might be any potential issues. Before an internship could be approved at my school there had a contract with the site. I imagine most schools have a similar policy for liability reasons and what not. If your school has a spot that student's intern at all the time then the contract is probably already in place. If it's a new spot in can take a long time to get the contract signed because you often start getting legal offices involved. I don't mean to scare you, but I would hate for you to find a great spot to intern at, only to find that red tape will prevent you from doing so.
