i know there are posts up on these but my friend was flipping out not knowing what to wear so .... i made this outfit can you guys please tell me if it is ok

thanks .
shes not the too dressy type...so something simpple like that...or if u guys have any other suggestions....nd either or of the jeans ones lighter than the other...so thats whatever.

I wouldn't suggest you to wear jeans for your interview.

That outfit is cute! But not for an interview. I strongly suggest not wearing jeans. This is a professional school interview. Therefore you need to look professional. She should wear black slacks at the least (Express or The Limited have good ones) and adding a blazer would help complete the look. I would recommend a more traditional suit.

I'm definitely going to agree with the NO JEANS sentiment.

I understand that she may not be the dressy type, and I'm not sure about the schools you are applying, but I know some actually have dress codes for being in class/at the school in general, and require professional attire at all times.

The outfit is adorable, but she will feel very out of place, because everyone else will basically have on a suit (slacks and a jacket). And to be really honest, there isn't much comfort difference between jeans and slacks (you can get them in a similar cut) and it's winter, it's cold, wear a blazer.

In general... No jeans. No lace. Nothing that sparkles too much. She needs to look polished. I would suggest a skirt or pant suit. Nice, solid-colored "church" clothes with a button-up jacket could also work. Close-toed shoes with or without a heel, but not stilettos.

Avoid a high ponytail. In my opinion, they look childish. Her hair could be in a low ponytail, half-up, or down.

So just to give you more ideas... THat is how people were dressed for the interviews I have been to so far!!!

Hope it helps!!!

At then interview I went to about 60 people all but 3 were in Black pants suits. While I agree you need to look professional, you also want to stand out and be remembered, in a good way. Under your jacket, nix the white shirt and add some color. Or get a nice sweater, or something. Make sure and get a color that accentuates your positive qualities, like your eyes, or facial coloring, etc. Just a suggestion. I wore black slacks, black heals and a teal sweater, the ones that look like they have a white shirt underneath, like this, with a set of pearls. I made sure my hair was out of my face, so they could see me when i spoke to them and work some make up but not a lot. My interview went very well and I was accepted. Hope this helps.

if i see another interview attire thread I'm going to hang myself.

business attire people!!!

I really hope not to come off as harsh - but maybe you should read more on those threads you ignored. Abercrombie jeans😱😱😱 - seems as far from appropriate to me as possible. Sure a few people on this forum have been accepted when they showed up wearing jeans - but those were by accident not intentionally planned. You definately want to stand out🙂 - but in the good way, not "OMG, what is she wearing way."

Be safe and go with the moo moo.

You don't have be to so ugly. Don't read things if you don't care. I just saw your negative comments on another thread. This is supposed to be a positive environment. Yes, sometimes constructive criticism is necessary, but that doesn't make it okay to bash people for being curious.

People want to know what they can get away with. And where they stand, and what to expect.

To be cliche' 'If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all.'

i actually went to an interview workshop for the school i was applying to. it was hosted by people on the admissions committee and they said that most of the time dress pants and a blazer don't even cut it. they STRONGLY recommended spending some cash and getting a matching suit. stay conservative and classy, not too trendy. they even suggested looking around at thrift shops to save some money. just get it tailored and dry cleaned before your interview.

A nice suit in a dark color is really the best bet. There were 2 or 3 girls at my interview that were wearing slacks with a nice blouse or sweater and they looked way underdressed. Doesn't mean they won't be accepted, but I think it's better to play it safe than sorry. That way if your friend gets rejected, she won't be wondering if it was because of her outfit.

Pretend you were invited to visit the white house. Go pick out an outfit to do that. Now wear that to pharmacy school interviews.

Jeans, cleavage, midrifts, crazy hair colors, facial piercings, upper thighs and anything Elle Woods would wear are not appropriate for ANY interview, especially a medical program.

I love fashion, but I managed to toned everything down for 4 hours.

Wear a suit. A black, grey, brown or blue suit. Mine was a chalky medium blue so it was a little outside the norm, but it was a very traditional cut. Skirts or pants are fine, but wear nylons if you wear a skirt. Wear shoes you can walk in and not look like a hooker or a clomp monster, closed toe please. Minimal makeup, no perfume, no 6 inch fingernails, simple stud earrings. Sit like a lady. Smile.....

what do you girls/guys think about this... I'm planning to wear beige stockings and black heels.
This is a one-piece dress that my mom got for me at express. It goes to about 3 inches above the knee.
It's made of the dress suit material.
I don't really dress up much...I've been trying out button up shirts.
I have wide shoulders so I thought that this dress would be better than a suit jacket.

It looks a bit too short, med school adcom once told me that generally it's not advised to wear anthing above the knee.

I agree, though the skirt I wore for my pharmacy school interview was about 5 inches above the knee. It was an ultra-fashionable mustard-colored suit with fancy jacket and miniskirt. Since then I grew up and realized that my legs actually look their best with skirts that just cover the knee (there is a reason Coco Chanel said that knees are the ugliest part of a woman's body).

Not bad... depending on where exactly you are interviewing, maybe a bit of underdressed, but you can always put on a nice blazer over it. As long you can pull off the polished look in it (and the same clothes can look VERY different on different people) and feel confident in it, you should be fine. 🙂Good luck!

Such a pity the link is dead. I woul have loved to laugh at someone wearing jeans to pharmacy school interview. At least, I had an opportunity to do it in real life... sadly, more than once. Needless to say, those candidates weren't even taken seriously - if they cannot make the effort to look the part, let alone anything else - why should me make an effort to look at them closely? You get out what you put in.

Well, places out West are always less formal than Northeast. 🙂

If you want to play it safe, buy a nice blazer (I have a pink wool one, and a brick-red suede for not-quite-as-formal situations) and have it in your hands, and then look around what other people are wearing and decide whether to put it on or leave it with your coat/stuff (do people even wear coats in Nevada this time of the year?)

Wow, looks hot - and very professional.👍👍👍 I have something similar. This is definately something I would possibly wear - what brand is this ?

You ought to check out The Limited! They have the best suits! (at reasonable price when it's marked down only :-( by the time it's on sale, they're out of my size! If you happened to find a perfect fit, don't hesitate to get it!)

Wear a suit and you'll never wonder if you didn't get in because you didn't show that you were serious by dressing professionally. Skirt or pants doesn't matter.

Be warned that "Sunday best" or currently fashionable is not a substitute for professional interview attire.

I'm not trying to argue with you, but some people may not be able to wear a suit for various reasons. Suits are expensive. It takes time to pick out the right suit. If an applicant gets a last minute interview invite, they may have to wear an outfit that they already own.

A good suit is one of those things that everyone should own, especially if they know they want to apply to a professional school and someday become a pharmacist.

Those are better, but the first one still seems too trendy. Just go for a typical suit combo with jacket.

Oh, and I wore pretty much an identical necklace to my interview 🙂

Ok, I don't want to hijack this thread BUT... I don't want to create ANOTHER what should I wear to the interview thread, and this is along the same lines. So, here's my dilemma...

I have a skirt suit from a while back and lucky for me I still fit in it. It's black and the skirt falls just above the knee. I've bought some hoisery to wear with the skirt. Ok, so the thing is, I don't want to wear a collared shirt because I think it makes me look like a flight attendant. I have a tank top that I can wear underneath... it's dressy, off-white polyester, with lace going down the middle. I'll be wearing my jacket on top so it looks good, a little sexier I guess but not overtly, I think, but am I being too risqué? Should I stick to the boring flight attendant look? I also feel more comfortable wearing the tank top because the skirt is kind of high-waisted and I don't have to tuck in the tank top so it brings it down to a comfortable waist for me, whereas the collared shirt I'd have to tuck in and it makes me feel really uncomfortable. Thoughts anyone??? Bear in mind I am not showing any cleavage at all.

The particular suit I chose for interview didn't work well with a collared shirt either, so I wore a nice camisole underneath the jacket. It was plain white and conservative. I haven't heard back yet from the school, but I didn't see any raised eyebrows at the look.

not even the top one?

there is a dress pant and a blazer,
deff. no for a suit. so if u were gonna say suit then she wasnt gonna plann on wearing it....

i personally think ppl dont haveeee to wear suits...a simple dress pant and blazer is fine....its like a suit the pants are the same...except u have a blazer on.....

well, what did u have in mind?

Ummm. NO.

Well for once - what is this crazy obsession with abercrombie ? Abercrombie to me seems like hardly a place to look for a professional wear. I don't know what it is about them - but the outfits you make for her are just not right. Quit putting cutsie outfits for your friend and just tell to get a regular suit. I don't like dressing up either - but I think for once in her life - especially for an important occasion like this she can put minimal effort and bother with dressing up. Also it seems like the outfits you pick for her are based on "cuteness" - not professionalism. Is she trying to get accepted to pharmacy school or is she trying to get a date with an adcom ?

i necessarily dont mean those companies just those styles...like a dress paant and a blazer or a button down shirt...i personally only shop at that store and when making the outfit i wasnt gonna go to all these other sites and find the same thing but diff company, i knew this store would have it...obviosly im not gonna tell her and she knows herself that not to go to abercrombie...but it was actually a quik thing for me to do...that site takes way too long...

so i just wanted to know if the whole thing with a dress pant and a blzer or a button down would do instead of a suit....who told u to look at the company?

You know, both are much better but I think what most people are trying to say is to play it safe and tell your friend to invest in a proper well-fitting suit. She's interviewing for graduate school which is equivalent to a professional job interview. Matching jacket and pant/skirt are a must. She can always take off the jacket at the interview if she feels it is appropriate.

I've worn the suit that I bought for my interview numerous times since my acceptance - for internship interviews, professional meetings, etc. She'll get mileage out of a suit, and it's a good staple to have in a wardrobe anyway. Just try not to go too trendy - it's better to have a timeless black/brown/navy/grey suit that will last a number of years.

I think everyone should start posting pics with their suits on.

*dies laughing* I cannot figure out whether I am glad or disappointed that YOU aren't applying for pharmacy school. 😀

May I suggest your friend asks help of someone who is not limited to just one store? And not the store most appropriate for the situation she needs help with?

This thread is cracking me up. Tell your friend to man-up (woman-up?) and slap on a boring suit for a few hours. It won't kill her. If she really isn't willing to wear a suit for a day, then maybe she isn't that desperate to go to pharmacy school.

u dont have to be so damn harsh, someone posted a sweater with a button down couple posts earlier, how come u didnt say crap then, at least what im saying is a dress pant with obviously a matching blazer...which is basically like a suit...how much women up u want her to be?
i didnt want to be mean and all but i havent said this earlier, my friend cant fit into any of the suits, shes kinda big, so its hard to find her size, and finding 2 diff like pants and a blazer is easier for her size.

As long as she wears matching pants and blazer she should be fine. The problem is you post specific pictures of skimpy looking outfits and ask for opinion - then get mad when people post comments. Generally blazer + pants are fine - but the specific ones you posted do not look super appropriate. One pair of pants - looks like a pair of seasucker pants, the blazer looks way too short and bebe-brand looking.

If your question is : Is it ok to wear separate blazer + pants to an interview that match - people already answered it and said yes.

very stimulating..great advise...you forgot to tell her what colors.......

I'm sorry if I offended you...I really wasn't trying to be harsh. I'm a little overweight myself, so I understand that it can be unfun to go to the mall and try on clothes that you aren't used to wearing. I think she might be able to find better sizes if she orders online...Ann Taylor has up to size 18 on their website for some suits. I'm sure most other companies probably offer more sizes online than you can find in the stores.

Unless she's very large (>size 24 or so) Macy's, Dillard's, JC Penney's, Nordstrom's, all carry bigger sizes as well. I have the problem that my top is 1-2 sizes bigger than my pants size - but if you buy a suit from a decent department store, they have seamstresses that will tailor pants/suits, etc. for a small charge.

She could also try Lane Bryant - they're pricey but have nice clothes too. I don't know what size they go up to, but I believe it's 28 or so.

that's really cute!
