Interview Hairstyle
Started by WorcesterPHOBoy
I'd go with a neat, carefully combed moussed style.
I have the same question because I have a big @ss 'fro, and I don't know what to do with it for my interviews. I was thinking of a bun or a neat ponytail. Do you guys think a ponytail would be too casual? I could straighten it, but that would take hours! 🙁

I too have really curly hair, but I hardly ever straighten it (I don't really have the patience). I'm planning on pulling my hair back into a bun or a french knot with a few curls framing my face - it looks professional but not severe. I found a type of hair clip a little while ago that's been a lifesaver on days when I can't get my frizz to do anything: http://www.drugstore.com/qxp142303_333181_sespider/vidal_sassoon/octopus_clip.htm I have several now and they work great (you can pick them up at walmart, cvs, etc.)
As to the OP, I agree with being conservative with your hair style, but don't be too drab. If you're normally an outgoing, funky person, find a way to express it somehow.
It's better to pretend that you look like a NERD during the interview. That way, they might think that u're smart. If you don't wear glasses, buy a fake glasses to wear it for one day and return it.

hahahhahaha...that's sooooo funny!!!!! they will know if you're smart or not, but doesn't hurt to try by wearing fake glasses....

What you can get away with depends on the school. Just make sure that you look professional, no matter what you choose.

Thanks for the advice. I had a clip like that before, and it broke because my hair is so thick!
I just hope that clip can tame my hair for at least a few hours. When I "do" my hair I use gel and only spike up the front.
When I don't "do" my hair, it gets a little frizzy with random individual hairs sticking out.
I look my best when I use gel and I feel in that I should gel it for my interview on Monday (trying to look my best with my suit and all), but also that maybe its not conservative enough?
Any recommendations?

As long as you don't have some really crazy spikey hair style, go with what your most comfortable with. If you feel uncomfortable with how you look on your interview day, your interviewer(s) will probably pick up on it. Neatly spiked hair isn't really unprofessional anymore, its more of the norm for the 20's age group. I've had my hair spiked in front for my interviews, and there weren't any ill effects from it. That said, don't go to an interview with brightly colored, all over spikes 😉

Like you I get frizz when I don't put junk in my hair. I went out and bought some matte light hold hair gel to put on while my hair is wet. When I get the right amount you can't tell that there is gel in my hair and it still moves. If you are worried about looking "right" then go to a stylist and have them help you out with products and usage.
