A classmate of mine said he was told the same thing...so maybe they don't extend all their invitations on the same day like most programs do.

I've understand that statistically if you have 5+ interviews, you can feel like you have a good shot. Of course people match all the time with fewer... (and unfortunately sometimes no match even with more).

50...programs don't rank all their interviewees.
 
To go back to the Nova post... some schools on the list have already sent out invitations before their deadline date past... Nova, New Jersey, Houston (all Oct. 1st) .. are interviews rolling at some programs like for dental school? In that case, have they finished sending out all of their invitations?

UNC will phone end of next week.
 
UCSF called 10/5, interview 10/25 &10/26. I heard, although not confirmed, that Ohio State and Mayo are calling now. CWRU, VCU, UNC, WV, Louisville, and Indiana all told me they will start next week or the following.

I've haven't heard great things about the ortho OEC programs but I was wondering if you all know anyone who has actually gone to one or interviewed at one? Is there any stigma graduating from Jacksonville, Colorado, or UNLV with an ortho. certificate if you were admitted as a non-OEC student?
 
when a program invites you for an interview with an optional gathering the night before, is it important to go? are you at a disadvantage by not going?

Also, has anyone gotten so many interviews that they are declining some? If so does that mean that the programs send out more invites later?

If you can arrange to make it to a social, it is recommended. Often residents may not vote; but socials give you as an applicant a better feel as to whether you would feel comfortable at the program. In the cases where residents are on the committee (i.e. have a vote), it does put you at a disadvantage simply because they don't get yo know you--and gain a favorable impression of you--like they will with other applicants.

It isn't uncommon to have to decline an interview due to scheduling conflicts, or to delcine one if you've already gottin invites from "enough" other higher choices. In those cases, many programs do send additional invites out at a later date.

I finished Master course ( Orthodontics ) in Republic of Korea, i got DDS degree from Vietnam.
Im in US now and plan to join a program for foreigner dentist ( advanced standing program ) then study Ortho in US .....
Any chance or program for me to join?
can i apply for residence in Ortho department?
I really need information about that,
Just want to prepare for it asap,

So Tufts deadline was 9/8.....has anyone heard of them giving out interviews yet? or CWRU?

I know a post of this nature circulated last year, and included info about many different specialty programs in in. So I thought a way to clean it up this year might be to have a separate thread for several of the specialties many of us are applying to (then we don't have to wade through extra posts to try and find feedback from other SDNers about what we want to know).

So post anything her about program interview dates, when you get invites, fyi's/heads-up for interviews at a particular school, etc that you think would be helpful for others.
