Interview Invites This Week?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yay! Got an interview at LECOM-Bradenton on aug 24th! I sent in my secondary to them near the first of July and was confirmed complete a couple of weeks later.

Congrats!!! you're racking them up!!

Hey thanks! It's kind of shocking to be honest, but they aren't acceptances yet. LECOM was never really a first choice, but with how much this has all cost so far, if Erie or Bradenton accepted me I might pay the deposit and withdraw from everything else.

Does anyone know how Bradenton does anatomy? What I mean is I know that the PBL pathway at Erie has videos you watch for anatomy, but no actual cadavers etc. does Bradenton do the same thing with videos or do they have cadavers? This is a big selling point for me. Thanks ahead of time to anyone with info.

I'm so tired of secondaries. I swear if i have to write one more essay I'm going to blow my face off!!

Good call, then you could see the ER from the patients perspective, which would translate into a great secondary.

Hahaha I could then in turn discuss how witnessing the EM doc perform his duties quickly and effectively motivated me even more in my pursuit of medicine. Think I'll do that hahaha

+1

And the sad part is its only getting started for me, I'm still waiting for my MD app to get verified.....

LECOM-B does have cadavers. I know you share in a group ~4-6 people I believe. I am trying to remember since I visited last. I know that they also have video as well. 🙂

Great! Thanks for the info.

Invites are through e-mail and you schedule through the portal.

Nova has started interview invites via e-mail!!

:O Oh shoot! I'm nervous now. haha
When were you complete?

I'm NOT complete. My school hasn't sent the LOR's yet. As I understand it though, no one ever received a "complete" notification of any sort from NSU.

I'm sorry, I think I should have clarified what I meant. I meant when did you send in your secondary application (Not the LORs, MCAT score, etc)?

I see:idea: Received and submitted secondary on July 3rd.

It seems like people with high mcat and mediocre gpa get invited before those with a higher gpa and mediocre mcat. Just a trend I've noticed. What do you guys think?

I haven't noticed. What's a high MCAT?

Got an invite for nova. I scheduled for sept 6 but I need to see if they will even accept me without a non-science LOR. I have two science, a DO letter, and one from my pre-med advisor. Hopefully they would accept that.

How many is that now? 4? Must be nice.😎

I have 4 interview invites now with the one I got from Nova this morning.

I don't even feel excited anymore when I get an invite. The first thing that pops into my head is "how am I going to pay for all of this"? 🙁 And I feel like I have many more invites coming my way.

Maybe you'll get accepted before you have to travel for all of them. I'm glad I got DMU early. If I like the campus (and if I get accepted) I might just withdraw my other applications.

I would love to have your "problem". lol

I like the sound of this =) You might as well not even go to the AZCOM interview... you know... with all the snakes and such 😀

Haha. It's not the snakes I'm worried about 🙂 If snakes eat spiders, I'll gladly let some snakes in.

Im the same way with DMU.

amen, brother.

Seriously haha! If I could choose any problem it'd be that one followed by too many acceptances to know what to do with. I can't imagine the struggle you are going through.

Exactly my thoughts. So glad DMU invited me early and fast-track, hopefully I'll be one-and-done and can save the extra $$...

I hope I will get an acceptance to DMU in late September so I won't have to spend too much on interviews. Regardless, I think I will schedule two interviews in September (DMU + one other school) just in case. If I go to DMU, though, I will have to take a biochem class before matriculation, which could be costly.

👍

same thing 🙁/🙂

My thoughts also. I tried to save up for interviews but unforeseen medical expenses have drained the funds and I'm booking flights and crap on a credit card now. But hey, I shouldn't complain. Interviews are interviews. It just makes me more willing than I previously was to say yes to the first acceptance and not play this game any more.

The price of interviews is catching up to me now. I did schedule my nova(23) and Lecom-br(24th)on back to back days though. Anyone else doing this?
I also am having trouble finding interview to acceptance ratio for any schools, do schools hide it for a reason?

I really wanted to get nova on the 23rd because I also am going to LECOM-Bradenton on the 24th. Oh well. I'll take the 6th of sept and go swimming in Florida twice 🙂

Make sure you keep checking the scheduler. It was filled when I first checked it and opened 10 minutes later.

I'll be at Nova on the 23rd. See you there!

Woo woo! Congrats! Good luck on your interview. Its closed file so all you have to do is show you can fit in.

What were your stats btw? If you don't mind me asking.

This is exactly my philosophy. I'm going to attend the Nova and LECOM-B interviews and, if i get accepted to those, not even consider any other DO schools (with the notable exceptions of DMU and CCOM).

Sure, there might be "better" DO schools than LECOM, but not 10k a year better. I want to avoid as much as debt as possible.
