Interview invites to estimate LOR quality?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Did either professor describe the letter as positive? Did you ask for a positive/good/glowing letter or anything like that? I think you might just be a little paranoid.

I'm worried about the quality of some of my LOR's (2 of my letter writers are really negative people who trash their students and staff and I know they have said negative things about me). I didn't have a choice to not include these since these are research professors that I spent alot of time with. I'm worried about my application getting tossed because of the letters although everything else in my app is good.

I'm hoping to estimate the quality of my LOR's based on the schools I get invited to. I just want to know if these are ok as a whole or if there is a serious weakness here and I need to consider reapplying and finding different letter writers. Does anyone know of schools that definitely do or don't consider LOR's when making the decision to send an interview invite? Which schools, if I get an interview from, can I assume that my letters are passable?

Unless you have like a 36+, you probably won't get any interviews if your letters are not "passable".

Ya, you did have a choice. I think LOR's are pretty important in the process, its the only way they can see what others think of you and not just you writing about yourself. You might be questioned in an interview as to why you didnt get letters from then and I think it would be acceptable to say that you had some personal differences and didnt feel like they would be your best option for letters. You might want to find another prof and have them send a letter for you in the next couple weeks. I think a couple good letters might help to "cancel out" a bad one.
