I just got my first interview offers from some biomedical PhD programs and was wondering what to expect. I dont really know anybody else who is applying to Ph.D programs, so that just makes me more nervous.
What kind of questions do they generally ask you about? Is mostly about your reasearch? I was also wondering how formal PhD interviews usually are and what the dress code usually is. Is it pretty casual or can I wear a suit?

I had some of the same questions as you, but I don't think there are that many biomedical PhD applicants on this forum. However, I just got back from a campus visit weekend that included 5 interviews which lasted about 30 minutes a piece. It was very laid back, enjoyable, and not very stressful for me. They asked me about my background, research experience, and what specialization I'm most interested in focusing upon. Try and do your homework if you happen to know who you are meeting with so you are aware of what they do. I would also suggest that you have some specific questions ready for them about the program.

As far as dress goes... it was told that it was business/casual for the interview day. I was planning on wearing a suit, but I ended up wearing a tie and nice pants. In my opinion, its best to be a little over-dressed than under-dressed.

Where are you visiting?

Thanks for the info, this makes me feel a lot better about my upcoming interview. I'm visiting penn state, and the interdisciplinary biomedical program at univ. of buffalo, although this one is just a recruitment weekend.
