Definately! Looking forward to meeting other SDNers there. PM me and let me know what time your interview is and what you'll be wearing and we can look for each other.
Twelvetigers, you are right. How rude of me...
Like I said, I have been following along SDN for over a year (stalkerish, I know) but only allowed myself to join the fun once I had all my materials in. I guess I felt having another venue in which to obsess over applications would only create more anxiety in my life and inadvertantly make the process harder. Once I read about peoples invites to interview, well, I couldn't stay out of it any longer. This sounds corny, but it truly is nice to feel as though I am not the only one getting hit with waves of nervousness multiple times a day. I don't think my friends quite realize how hard this process is...
Some basic facts:
- first time applicant
- graduated undergrad in 2007
- have primarily SA experience, but really want to get a better handle on large animal/zoo/exotics/wildlife before dedicating myself to any specific area
- I have a Shih Tzu (technically my parents dog, but I grew up with her so she's mine too, right?) who is a delicious snoot of a thing.
- and my favorite food is pizza 🙂
Sorry for the tangent and congrats to everyone getting interviews!
Oh man, I haven;t heard anything from Missouri. I'm guessing that may mean I won't be getting an interview...🙁
*problem: I return to San Francisco from an international trip late on 1/10. I will call and ask about it, but does anyone know what will happen?
lol It's true about the worrying! But, I think everyone does in whatever profession they are pursuing.Thank you! A pleasure to meet you, per se, and congrats on the interview. Welcome to the official "we worry all the time" club. Woo!
is anyone else going crazy like i am waiting to hear from michigan about the supplemental application?
Tufts: Barnaby (11/26 via email, interview 12/19); Zoonose (11/26 via email, interview 12/19, OOS); rara avis (11/26 via email, interview 12/19, OOS); DVMorBust (11/26 via email, interview 12/19, OOS), DollyyLlama (11/26 via email, interview 12/19, OOS)
Just a quick question to ease my mind. Is the early interview date for Tufts for combined programs or just regular OOS admission? You guys who have gotten interviews already, which program did you apply to? Just curious!! Thanks 🙂
i applied to regular DVM

what about suitcases at the tufts interview?
for example, if you stay in a hotel on dec 18 and checkout is before 11 am on dec 19...what do you do with your suitcase? is there a place to store it on campus? is this an abnormal consideration?

Ohio State on 12/12 In-state. 😀

I was getting antsy, so I called KSU and they said applications were still being looked through, so expect to hear by end of this week or next about possible interviews. (I thought they'd gone through all of them already, so I feel a little more hopeful!)

Pandacinny---remember that it 'aint over 'til the fat lady sings. Who knows, they might be interviewing in tiers...
I assume you've applied to Va-Md Regional as well?
Nice to see another "Baltimoron" on the forum--and I mean that as a compliment, hon! 😉
Since you're newI'll cut and paste it for you, but should you get any other interviews, now you know! 😉

If you don't mind me asking- What did you say your area of interest was?
Thanks and congratulations!

i spoke to the admissions officer today- in her words, "those are the only three days, kiddo." no alternatives, no exceptions. looks like i'll have to withdraw.. sucks after investing time in the app, but oh well. i applied to 8 so i have some wiggle room. hope that doesn't happen to anyone else!
Is there any way you could change your flight situation so you fly into Missouri on the 10th instead of San Fran and schedule your interview on the 11th? Might be stressful, but it sucks to throw away an interview unless you really have to (especially unless you have other interviews lined up that you're feeling good about).
first of all, thank you for your concern and for the suggestion, which would totally work in most cases. unfortunately, since my family is all booked on one reservation, any itinerary change requires canceling and re-booking all tickets. my option would be to turn around in SF, take a red eye to MO, drive two hours on wintry roads to columbia, and show up jet-lagged and incoherent assuming all the modes of travel are on time. i think it makes sense to just cut my losses, since i already have reservations about the school's animal use.

pandacinny -
I am VA so I applied to VMRCVM too! You are MD though, right? So we wouldn't get to interview together 👎
