Hey guys, so I had two interviews at one school. And both of them were trying to give me reasons why this school would be a good fit for me, in addition to the reasons I was already telling them (this is one of my top choice schools). One interviewer even said, "when you are in the hopsital setting, and I know you will be.." as a preface to a question. The second one said, well you are mentioning all the reasons I was going to give you to sell the school. My question is do you think they try to sell the school to all applicants? Or could it be that they really do think I would be a good match? Thanks.

Yeah happens a lot...in fact I had an even crazier story...at one medical school the interviewer said sit down..."dont say anything because I have already made up my mind that I want you here so you will be accepted...I am goign to tell you all your good qualities and try and convince you to come to my school."

Hah, that's great. Did you end up receiving an acceptance from that school?

I had an interviewer once tell me: "My job on the admissions committee is not particularly to interview. Certain candidates do not need to prove themselves in an interview setting because they have done so elsewhere. My job on the admissions committee is to be a recruiter for such candidates." Lol... too bad that it wasn't one of my top choices🙂

This is typical. Most schools have to accept more applicants than they have room for (some many more) because no school is the first choice of everyone who is admitted there.

Most applicants who are admitted to one "top school" are admitted to three or four. So, every school that offers admission is wishing that the highly desirable candidate will matriculate at their school. Hence the courtship ritual of the interview where both applicant and interviewer attempt to impress one another.

God, I hope I get that interviewer!
